The band’s name is inspired by a lactating contortionist stripper named Alexis Fire. This caused problems when she discovered that they were using her website name (alexisonfire.com) as their band name, and threatened to sue. However, since she had never trademarked the title nothing became of these threats. In the end, the band decided to change their website’s URL in spite to theonlybandever.com
Alexisonfire’s lyrical topics range from relationship troubles to go-karting. They have two primary vocalists, screaming duties carried out by George Pettit, and singing by Dallas Green, with support from Wade MacNeil.
While their largest fanbase is in their home country of Canada, they also became more popular in other parts of the world, including Japan, Australia, Europe and the US. In the second half of 2010, they toured Australia with Break Even, Europe with Chickenhawk and The Computers and then Canada with Norma Jean and La Dispute.
The band was nominated for "ugliest rock band ever" at the CASBY awards (held by local Toronto radio station) but lost out to another Canadian born band, Sum 41. In 2010 they then won the "Best New Single" Award for their track The Northern.

Burial
Alexisonfire Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
The snow's been falling for months
The town all dressed in white
And my skin is burning from the wind
A cold sun in disguise
An assault from the morning light
My burial, I can't succeed
Oh winter
Oh winter
Oh winter
Oh winter
Oh winter
Oh winter
Oh winter
Oh winter
Oh winter
Oh winter
Oh winter
Oh winter
Oh winter
Oh winter
Oh winter
Oh winter
The lyrics of Alexisonfire's song "Burial" describe a mood of despair and hopelessness felt by the singer during a long and difficult winter season. The lines "When will this winter end? The snow's been falling for months" convey a sense of weariness and impatience with the harsh weather conditions. The imagery of the town being "dressed in white" suggests that the snow has taken over and become overwhelming, while the mention of the singer's skin burning from the wind highlights how uncomfortable and painful this winter experience has become.
The second half of the lyrics shift to a more metaphorical and introspective tone. The lines "An assault from the morning light, my burial, I can't succeed, frozen and paralyzed" suggest that the singer is struggling with depression or feelings of being stuck and unable to move forward. The "morning light" could symbolize a new day or a new beginning, but for the singer, it is overwhelming and feels like an attack. The mention of a "burial" and being "frozen and paralyzed" suggest a feeling of being trapped or stuck, even to the point of contemplating death.
Overall, the lyrics of "Burial" convey a mood of despair and feeling trapped in a harsh winter season, both literally and metaphorically. The imagery and language used suggest that the singer is struggling with depression or a sense of hopelessness, and is feeling overwhelmed by the challenges that lie ahead.
