Alif Allah chambey di booti, murshad mann layee hoo.
Nafi asbaat da paani miliya, har gall har jayee hoo.
Ander booti mushak machaiya jaaN phulan par ayee hoo.
Jeevey murshid kaamal Bahu, jin ihh booti layee hoo.

Bey bismillah isam Allah da ihh bhi kehna bhaara hoo.
Naal safaiyat sarwar aalam chhutsi aalam saara hoo.
HadoN be-had darood nabbi nooN jisda aidd pasara hoo.
Mein qurban tinah thiN Bahu jihna miliya nabbi sahara hoo.

Sey saabat ishaq tinah ne ladha(found) jihna tarati chauRh cha keeti hoo.
Na ohh sufi na ohh bhangi, na sijda karn maseeti hoo.

Khals neel puraney utte nahi chaRhda rung majeethi hoo.
Kaaji aan sharah vall Bahu kadi ishaq namaaz na keeti hoo

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of the song Allah Hu by Ali Zafar are a beautiful and complex expression of devotion to the divine. The opening lines of the song describe the "chambey di booti," a plant that symbolizes the divine presence, and how the singer's guide, or murshid, has helped him find it. The water of purity has been found and every obstacle has been overcome. The booti has been planted within and it has blossomed into flowers. In the end, it is the guidance of the murshid that has enabled the singer to find the true essence of the divine presence.

The second stanza talks about the importance of invoking Allah before undertaking any action or mission. It also talks about the importance of cleanliness, particularly in the context of the Prophet. The singer then mentions the importance of salutations and blessings upon the Prophet, and how he has found solace and comfort in his teachings.

The final lines of the song talk about how piety doesn't depend on external rituals or symbols. The true path of devotion is one of love and dedication, not just in prayer, but in all aspects of life. The singer mentions how even the learned clergyman (kaazi) hasn't prayed with the same devotion as those who have found the true path of love and devotion.

Overall, the song is a beautiful expression of devotion, where the singer is not just praising God, but also expressing his gratitude for the guidance and teachings that have led him to the path of love and devotion.

Comments by Sir Rohail Hyatt :

"Coke Studio is not a fixed formula production. It's a creative playground for the artists. We leave the choice to the artists as to how many songs they might like to perform and then work around that number. But having said that, I think you should wait and see the episode first :)

For me personally, season one's 'Allah Hu' was the real reason why I produced Coke Studio back then. One can never plan a performance like that but the house band were really into this track when we jammed with a general idea prior to the arrival of the singers. I had previously done a version with Sian Zahoor for 'Khuda kay liyay' and was very interested in producing a live version of this track. Unfortunately Sian could not make it for the recording and Tufial was given the task of performing it with Ali Zafar at the very last minute. This version is actually called 'Hu' and is different from Sian's version of 'Allah Hu'. The rest is history..."

With all artistic praise and reverence to Saieen Zahoor, I believe Tufail is where he should have been. He fits in like this was meant just for him.
