On August 4, 2009 "The Things We've Grown to Love" was released on Linc Star Records (Warner Brothers), and paved a small stepping stone for the band. With their first full length under their belt, Rolling Stone named them 1 of 6 bands to keep a close eye on. The album received a majority of good reviews, and pushed All the Day Holiday into the busy commotion of bands needed to see.
One week before Christmas 2009, All the Day Holiday released a cover of "Christmas Time is Here" which shown light on the growth the band has made since the release of their first full length record. With a step in the direction of soul, shoegaze, and rock and roll at the roots, this is a band worth a corner on your iPod.
All the Day Holiday is Daniel Simmons (guitar and vocals), Mark Ventura (drums and percussion), David Roller (bass and keys), and Nathan Frisch (guitar)

Autumn
All The Day Holiday Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
We'll fly we'll fall and we'll dream
That we'll make it to the
Stars in the sky above
It's what life is like
Oh it's what it's like
And we grow so fast
Cause we rely on our
Makers to mold us
And draw out our maps
This is what it's like
We fly we soar through
The story of our lives
And we're caught up in
A thousand spider webs and lies
So let it go, let the pages turn on their own
Let the author of your life do some writing
Oh it's what it's like
It's time to leave the people who have taught us all
And taught us what to believe in
We've got to make a choice and take a stand
And find out where it was
What we'll call home
This is what this life is like
We fly we soar through
The story of our lives
And we're caught up in
A thousand spider webs and lies
So let it go, let the
Pages turn on there own
Let the author of your life write
I promise you will make it out alive
I promise you will see a brand new light
In the song "Autumn" by All The Day Holiday, the lyrics describe the ups and downs of life, comparing it to a trampoline where we fly, fall, and dream. It depicts the journey of growing up and relying on our makers to mold us and draw out our maps. The song encourages us to let go of the past, to leave the people who have taught us all, and take a stand to find out where we belong. The author of the song seems to be suggesting that sometimes, we need to let go and let the author of our lives write our story for us.
The song appears to be an existentialist portrayal of life's journey. It tells us that life is unpredictable and full of ups and downs. We will experience both success and failure, but we should keep in mind that these experiences are what make us who we are. As we grow, we rely on those around us - our family, friends, and mentors - to shape us into the people we will become. However, at some point, we need to find our own way and follow our own path. Only by doing so, we will be able to see a brand new light.
