You Know
Alpha 2.1 Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Do you know who you are
What is your name
Sometimes you wonder why
And wonder how
Don't be alone
Just say you conquer
Even if you choose or not to fight
Through all the pushing
With no dirty shoes
Finding the truth
It's not hard to figure out your life
Take your time and let it rain on you
Blessings from mother earth are always always true
Take your time and meditate on you
Do you know who you are
What's your name
What's your worth

My charge is like the words of this ancient mythology
The wisdom I disperse in this verse no apology
Memorize to keep you from evil theology
For you that denied your equality
See for generations we perpetrating psychology
Divide and conquer each other we ly linch policy
We cannot build each other up how would we build economy
How you think is how you are is
It's just basic miralogy
So please recite the words of these ancient mythology
The wisdom I disperse in these verse no apology
Do you realise the negros are hunted commodity
Look around you Nigga observe your ecology
See they gonna try to tell you it's in their biology
They go tell you niggas can technology
That's why we have to rewrite our anthropology
Until they acknowledge

Take your time and let it rain on you
Blessings from mother earth are always always true
Take your time and meditate on you
Do you know who you are
What is your name
What is your worth

Yeah tell me the value of a free born
And all these habitations
Black is beautiful it is true isn't it or it
Generations raised just to ruin it
Shipped acrossed the sea and we conquered the options
Labor in the mind For options
Whatever path you take your existence Disfunction
Centuries later things will still be the same be cautious
Black man meditate on your pain
Hesitate in the rain
Let it wash off the curse
Then immerse in the hurt
Let your worse be rebirth
Have a thirst for the truth
Find protection for youth
Niggas open your wings
Let your women be Kings
Let your children redream
Then you find them the means
Give them reasons to smile
Make it last for a while
As I decree for a better future my child yea

Take your time and let it rain on you
Blessings from mother earth are always always true
Take your time and meditate on you
You gat two major issues
An identity crisis and psycological hopelessness
We hate our Africanity
Even within the black consciousness community
We are still we are Still anti African
Because deep down within our subconscious we were all conditioned by the same super structure
That made us Feel Africa wasn't anything worth claiming
Our problem is totally mental We're a trillion Dollar people we have all the degrees we need
We need all the expertise but you know what we're lacking
That cutural commitment to ourselves
Until we hate racism more than we hate each other
Nothing is going to change

It was a learning process for me to
Understand that the world does hate you yes
The world discriminates the world is full of prejudice and bigotry
And racism and hatred it's real I completely
Agree with you and that's the sought of explicit world against you
There's a more insidious world against you
Which I think has to do with the socialization process the
Expectation of men to be the strong one is a hell of an expectation
It's actually terrible because what do you do with all the real
Human vulnerability and then it goes back to what we started off
Talking about you have to become the
Super hero, the big muscle man and you aren't
You're just a person some of you is strong and some of you is weak
Just a person and a full person has all the vulnerability in the world
We need men's liberation to liberate men from the shackles of having

To be a warrior and a perfect and a soldier and a killer
And a big strong muscle man to just be a person

Overall Meaning

The song "You Know" by Alpha 2.1 is a introspective take on self-discovery. The song starts with a series of questions aimed at the singer to give them something to consider; their identity and their worth. The song then steers the singer towards a more positive outlook, saying that they should not be alone and that they should always strive to conquer. The lyrics also tackle the idea that it is not hard to figure out one's life but it is important to take one's time, meditate and wait for things to fall into place.

With the second half of the song, the lyrics become more aggressive tackling issues of social injustice and self-hate. The song talks about the wisdom that comes from ancient mythology and how that can be used to fight back against those who seek to oppress. The song also talks about how black people have been made to hate themselves due to the conditioning of society. The song calls for a liberation of the black community from both external and internal shackles, to find cultural meaning and self-worth.

With these new updates (and upcoming updates) of late I'm strongly considering just waiting a few months and starting a new game to get a fresh experience. I haven't been following Empyrion for very long (about 2 months as of this comment), but I'm seeing a rapid addition of new (and most importantly stable) features that actually build upon an already great game rather than take away from a player's freedom.

The best recent example of this that I can think of was how I came across a negative review on Steam which drew attention to the old food perish timer system whereby each unit of a food item would have its own perish timer and therefore couldn't stack with any identical food item that had a net difference of 1 or more perish units from itself.

The person who was critical of that system specifically lamented the fact that that complaint had been leveled at the developers on the Empyrion forum numerous times and that the thread in question was eventually locked (as if to suggest that the developers didn't care).

I don't think the person who left that negative review on Steam realized that when you're getting upwards of 250 identical complaints (not necessarily from the same place either) about an issue that is already being worked on, you tend to get annoyed with the pointlessness of responding to all of them since lazy people can't take literally 10 seconds or less to realize that at least 20 other people before them have leveled the exact same complaint (sometimes on the same exact page).

And despite all that complaining from other players giving out "buyer beware" reviews on Steam, the perish timer was updated about a day after I bought Empyrion on Steam. I then saw the hilarity in how the developers had compromised on the perish timer by allowing the perish times to average each other out so as to allow them to stack while keeping their overall unique values. I had to ask myself, "How many heads is that intentional or unintentional joke going to fly over?"

Keep up the good work guys ^^

@daleseantatum2455

I'm glad i have this game

@Kage848

Update looks awesome.
Was wondering are there any plans for some kind of auto drilling options? Drilling ships or platforms?

@Neronix17

I'm hoping for some sort of quarry device, build a gantry and have it go back and forth removing each layer before dropping down to the next, depositing the resources straight into cargo containers. Wouldn't exactly be hard to have such a building, just needs to have a way of deciding width and length of the gantry.

@Kage848

Neronix17 That would be cool

@TrancoTechnizer

autodrilling..if they implement it with drones, that would be awesoe..so you could build drones similar to those already in the game, with different functions...oh and they should require energy or some sort of fuel...and then they could add NPC capital ships that you can board and capture

@Neronix17

TrancoTechnizer If it was drones they'd end up using the same energy as the rest of the powered objects, those promethium cells, would be interesting but might be a bit awkward for mining, static objects that mine a specified area would be better for building underground sections of a base imo, but time will tell what they choose to do, they might come up with something nobody else has.

@TrancoTechnizer

Neronix17 im looking forward to what they will come up with next :) this is even more exciting than waiting for No Man Sky to FINALLY get released
