The group-members where: Josje Mulders, Frank 'Jam Boy' Kitzen, Thei 'Blockhead' Schreurs, Frans Houben, Lian Storcken, en Paul 'Costello' Hendrix. They were influenced by the Gang of Four, P.I.L. and the Neue Deutsche Welle. A small village Grevenbicht was their home-base, from where they travelled all around Limburg. In 1983 en 1984 they toured in Germany en Belgium.
In 1983 they became well known with the compilation album
"Alle honden blaffen" which appeared on Free Limbabwe Records. They recorded for this album two songs 'Help me nurse' and 'über alle Gipflen ist ruh'. The first song was written by the famous limbabwian songwriter Roger 'Steemo' Smeets.
Unfortunately the group split up at the summer of 1984, but was on stage in 1997 for the last time.

Although my military "experience" is limited to playing Call of Duty; sailing the German Navy ships up the Mississippi River, doesn't exactly sound like a brilliant strategy... I don't know which would have had most holes in it, the plan itself or the hulls of those ships!

U 853 and its sister, U 858 are the WW2 German submarines.

Look this up. It’s always good to do research and read books. I remember looking at this book on the history of WW2 in Delaware.

If he was planning on going through Africa and South America to get to the United States he was bound to end up not only with logistical problems but more enemies; he was already fighting Brazil after they started attacking their merchant ships. (Brazil sent troops to Italy making them the only South American nation to invade Europe.) As for fighting through Canada, there is historical instances where the French attacked Hudson Bay during the American Revolution, however, Canada was already at war and much of their shipping went through Halifax, suggesting they would have kept their Navy active along the coast at that time. In any case attacking through America would be logistical nightmare due to the distance they would have to take to get here. Not to mention you could forget any support from the Bunds - they were never as large a number as the Nazis hoped, with just a few thousand follower, and the fact many Americans would have fought on as guerrillas. During the war there were a number of state guards and other paramilitary groups that rose up to do guard duty around the country.

Two big problems. First, remember it was Germany that declared war on the U.S. first due to their alliance with Japan. Second, how would the Germans have been able to move all the men and equipment across the Atlantic regardless of where they would have landed? Germany had very little in the way of transport shipping outside of some barges. Yes Germany had the Me-321 and Me 323 transport aircraft, and this would have worked to land troops in southern England, but they wouldn't have had the range for a trans-Atlantic crossing.

Tens of millions of guns in civilian hands, even back then. It would have been the biggest civilian campaign the world had ever seen. That and the fact that supplying a force large enough to establish a beach head in the US would make the task suicide. Keep in mind that a bunch of guys in black pajamas held back and eventually defeated the US. Defending your homeland gives you a massive advantage.

A chance that Canada would have tipped off the U.S. about Germany moving through them? Bit of an understatement there. Most likely, I think, Canada would immediately have invited the U.S. to form a joint operation opposing the Nazi's march through them, and we'd have done so knowing it was in our own best interests, regardless of our thoughts on the Euro theater of war.

Uhhhh...this totally ignores the fact that three-fourths of Germany's war effort was involved in defeating the Soviet Union by the time the United States entered the conflict, and they couldn't just summon another massive force to engage the Americans like they did the Soviet Union. Simply put, Germany did not have the manpower and weapon production capabilities to take on the USSR and the USA at the same time.

The vehicles didn’t move without the soldiers too. It was still the Sovjets who did the fighting. Plus the supplies helped a bit, but nowhere near enough to have had a decisive role.

Remember these if we ever kick off ww3:

1) never fight Russia during winter seasons
2) dont open another front till you close the other and solidify the holding
3) utilize subterfuge and commandos more
4) have a clear command and communication structure establish
5) do not develop new general weaponry during the fighting and only utilize ones that are able to be replaced with ease (e.g. dont go and make 50 different iterations of a tank, you only need 1 reliable type for general purpose)
6) don't ally with Italy 😝🤣

@Compucles The allies had a massive numbers advantage. And just like WW1, the US got involved years after the war started, we were fresh, another huge advantage. Despite the US having a much larger population, if Germany and the US fought, one on one, Germany would have buried us, and every American knows it.

Several of the plans fail with the biggest being Canada. If Canada was invaded, the US would've seen the invasion coming miles away and would've mobilized troops into Canada. On top of that the Kriegsmarine was very... poor. Other than vast amounts of submarines ot didn't have much that could've even taken on the US fleet

To be fair the Nazis didn't have many subs. It was their biggest naval asset but they never had more than ~30 on patrol in the Atlantic. At most they had ~100-120 operational subs. With 1/3 on patrol, 1/3 in transit, 1/3 in port.

The UK was never allied with Germany, France hated Germany’s guts up until 1940 when they turned into Vichy France, India simply wanted separation from the British, they never wanted to invade us. They did, there are jobs that the German embassy in Mexico City had talked to the Mexican gov’t but they declined right before the UK gave us the tip .they weren’t interested in “reconquista” . During WWII Mexico fought in the Allies side after Germany sunk one of their oil tankers In the gulf of Mexico . This is likely the best chance they had , but Mexico didn’t want us as an Enemy.

No aircraft carriers for the Kriegsmarine would have also made any attempted German invasion or offshore attack on the U.S. Mainland difficult to impossible. Whatever seaplanes their cruisers and battleships could have launched would do nothing to stop the squadrons of Wildcats, Dauntlesses, and Avengers bearing down on them. Using U-Boats to strike U.S. port cities would have been the way to go, but they were all probably well defended by the latter stages of the war and anti-sub operations had gotten significantly better.

The Germans didn't have much in the means of traditional warships, either. They had already lost the Bismark and some other important capital ships by the time the U.S. entered the war, meaning they'd be trying to laughably bombard our coastal cities and military bases with little more that a fleet of U-boats!

Germany did have one aircraft carrier but it was never used. They didn't have the means to run it, the Soviets got it after the war but if i'm not mistaken they weren't allowed to use it themselves so it was used as target practice. It's currently sat at the bottom of the Baltic Sea

There were German U-boats in the Gulf of Mexico during the war. In fact, more allied ships were sunk in the Gulf of Mexico than at Pearl Harbor. In the early days most coastal cities didn’t institute blackouts which made the U.S. cargo and oil tankers easy prey for the Germans.

There are some urban legends that the Germans would sneak off into New Orleans for a good time.

I have to admit. The early infographic videos had, well, horrible info graphics that didn't represent or even closely resemble the ships, vehicles, or any of the equipment for the times they were describing. For example the ww2 ships looked like some sort of futuristic versions of themselves. This video shows a lot of improvement. I can tell the difference between the German and American warships because they have the same profile as some actual ships that they used during that time.

Germany may have put together plans, but none would have been practical during the war as it unfolded, and this largely related to two key factors... One was oil and the other was naval power.

And the naval fact was obvious. The German navy was being built up before WW2, but much like the rest of the German military it was being rebuilt from the limitations of the Versailles Treaty, and this had Donitz and Raeder competing with the army and air forces for men and resources, and often with each other over what the navy would build with what they did get. This ultimately meant that when the war began in 1939 the German Navy wasn't truly ready for war and then suffered a mauling at the hands of the Royal Navy, particularly in Norway in 1940. The Germans took the country but suffered such losses at sea that they had no capital ships available to even consider Sealion. And any attempt to invade the US, Canada, or Iceland would have had to challenge the Royal Navy FIRST, which after Norway, Raeder didn't want to do... Not in a head on battle, anyway. In this, the Germans didn't even have the ships to cross the English Channel, let alone the Atlantic Ocean.

And even if they had the ships, oil would have been the bigger issue. For Germany didn't have a stockpile of oil and was actually consuming MORE oil than what its main supply source, Romania, could produce. This was a big part of why the Germans invaded the Soviet Union in 1941 in that they had the hopes that the Caucasus Oil Fields would then improve Germany's fuel situation and thus allow the resources to fight the war at seat that would consume a lot of oil. Until then... the Germans wouldn't have the oil to sail.

I don't think many Americans were "worried about the draft" following the attack on Pearl Harbor. In fact, Americans showed up in droves to voluntarily enlist for military service, so much that there were lines around the block at many recruiting locations. But that was a different time: Most Americans back then were proud of being part of the greatest nation in all of known history, even if it isn't perfect.

Yes, that may have had a small weight on Japan. But the logistics and their continuing War, Japan lost 4 aircraft carriers during Midway hard to replace those ships and veterans. Plus the continuing occupation of Asia would've sapped them of all necessary funds to mount such an Invasion. Remember, Japan went to War because they lacked resources for their economy, specifically oil. Moreover, despite Japan's initial success in China - how long do you think Japan would last fighting both China and India. In the end both Japan and Germany lost their respective wars because they ran out of resources (manpower, etc.)

Around 1:40, regarding the animated newspaper that was introduced to illustrate the United States’ entry into the Second World War as a result of the Pearl Harbor naval attack committed by the Imperial Japanese on 12/07/1941, its front title should have said “F. Roosevelt,” not “Wilson.” Thomas Woodrow Wilson was president (i.e., #28) during WW1, whereas Franklin Delano Roosevelt was president (i.e., #32) during the Great Depression and WW2. The issue with via Canada is they would have told us for sure , also the issue with the East coast was the system of spotters looking for uboats . New Orleans, the Delaware, Chesapeake and others were covered . West coast was too, if you go to Rosecrans battery you will see they had 16 inch and 8 inch shore guns . In Delaware they had 8 inch guns etc .

Regarding Iceland to Canada the UK invaded Iceland to prevent any idea Germany might take it. The German surface fleet was relatively small vs the Royal Navy and its Scottish naval bases much closer it just looks suicide. first germany didn't invest much on surface navy, they didn't have enough air power. They can't even conquer great britain so it will be taxating to attack a country further than great britain. Germany also fighting 3 fronts. they didn't have enough oil for atlantic invasion. They also don't have enough manpower, they lost too much men in WW1.

To be fair, Great Britain held the most powerful navy at that point in time, with the Germans taking second place, the Germans had Air Superiority, but it wouldn't be enough and it wasn't firm per say, Operation Sealion was a last resort for a already defeated nation, Germany was never interested in war with Britain either, but churchill being the warmonger that he is, kept fighting to the end, but the price for victory was enormous: they lost the empire, their economy was destroyed, and they lost the status of world power in favor of the U.S.

The Germans had ZERO logistical capability of invading the Americas in the 1940's. That would have been true even if the Soviets and Britain capitulated. By 1945, the very experienced and massive naval (carrier and submarine) forces built up to defeat Japan would have decimated the German navy. All this is without factoring in our immense fleet of long range strategic bombers equipped with a hand full of nuclear weapons.

Not only are we protected by two great oceans, and a strong military, but if by some chance a country did cross the oceans and defeat our military, our citizens would grab their guns and fight. 0:43 looks almost like the B-29 which was never used in Germany. A couple were sent to airfields in Britain to allow for aerial photography by the Germans and let them think they were going to be employed against them. Instead they were used in the Pacific Theatre.

Germany and Japan signed a formal alliance in 1940, after Japan attacked Pearl Harbor, becoming enemies of the United States. A joint German-Japanese attack on North Africa during the North African Campaign was launched in September 1942.

Really the main reason it wasn't possible was Britain. British still had a huge fleet and a strong air force. Would 100% have needed to win the battle of Britain to make it possible and even though the logistics would of been crazy.

8:22 the Germans didn't invaded during the winter, they invade in June 1941, they planned to take Moscow and expected the Russian to surrender like in France, but their plan failed and got bog down, by the time of the summer offensive 1942 the Russian had brought troops from the east side of soviet union.

Err, I have to remind you that invasion of Czechoslovakia came with Western approval, while Soviet Union offered to help country in peril. But they had no direct land access so could not do much without Western or Polish collaboration. And regarding Poland, they went in only after Warsaw itself was under siege and Germans could have been around Lviv and Vilnius in week or so. Some obviously think that would be a better solution.

Both of my parents served in WW2; my dad was in the merchant fleet and my mum in the WRENS. To my knowledge, neither ever callled them nazis. They were Germans that did those things. Nobody refers to the Americans as The Democrats or my country as The Coalition during those times. Isn't it time for us to tell it as it was?

Because it paints too broad of a picture. Not all germans supported nazis. Many had to "play along" out of fear of the majority rule. Most germans had no idea of the concentration camp atrocities.

Also after ww1 Germany was punished and all the people suffered greatly. Nationalism and hate was the answer to hyper inflation and international humiliation. Blaming the party that facilitated the atrocities allowed a path of healing for the less then willing participants.

If Germany was able to conquer the UK it would've likely changed the course of the war for Germany's cause. The US wouldn't have been able to use UK as a staging point for invading mainland Europe. The US would've been forced to invade from Iceland instead which was much further away from the mainland Europe and would've been noticed a lot easier trying to invade on D Day from Iceland.

Plus at the time UK controlled Canada so if Germany took over UK it would've made it a lot easier for them getting control of Canada and Germany could've invaded the US through Canada.

Funny part of all these plans, was the fact that in the 1940s the United States was a world leader in manufacturing, and every resource except rubber was available in the states. Said manufacturing was concentrated in the center of the country making them harder to wreck. The production capacity of America, not to mention a diametrically opposed mindset of the 1940s Americans, compared to many "modern" Americans, would have made Germany's losses worse than what they suffered in Russia. I know, Russia fought the Fascists bravely during the Great Patriotic War, but it is a fact that the US had to send Russia material and supplies until they got their factories up and running in the west. We have to agree that Russia and America were powerful allies during the war. Germany and their allies in Japan had Zero chance of truly defeating the America of the 1940s.

Please note, I mention this as someone with a serious amateur's deep interest in WWII. Another point in the US's favor was Hitler's Anti Semite stance. His officious beliefs forced the best nuclear physicists/physicists in the world to flee Germany for America. Think of that what you will, but imagine if they'd been able to support the German war effort. Possibly Hiroshima may not have been first.

Well I think Germany and Japan wouldve genocides the nation with bombing before making a land invasion therefore creating far less casualties. With a ton of highly populated cities on the coasts of the U.S the workforce would be slightly affected but people would most likely flee inland due to the fear of dying in a bombing.

Then the U.S military would be the only thing standing and taking into consideration what I just mentioned it would just take a large fleet of ships from Japan to invade Pearl Harbor and prepare to bomb military bases along the coast then a following invasion of the mainland

The part where Mexico didn't join Germany in WW1 because the telegram was intercepted is not 100% accurate. By 1917, Mexico was having a civil war called "Mexican revolution". Also, Mexican authorities were somewhat suspicious of the USA after the attack in Veracruz by the USA, and let’s not forget that the USA tried to ignite a coup with Victoriano Huerta (through its ambassador in Mex at the time) to oust the current Mexican president in 1913.

So, to be honest. Mexico neutrality was probably the best deal the USA could get from its southern neighbor.

I kinda think it worked. And here’s why. That kinda stuff from Germany 1930’s should have never made it to the shores of America seeing how so many brave Americans died fighting that way of thinking’s but yet here we are in 2021 where groups just like Hitlers are allowed to gather and push they’re talking points.

When I play As Germany in Hearts of Iron 4 I would always immediately take Poland & Belgium before tension got high enough, then I would go after France, once they were gone, the Soviets were next. Then I was able to have enough resources to hold off Britain & build up before the USA joins in. Before I try to take Britain I take out Denmark, Sweden, Norway, The Netherlands, & sometimes Switzerland. All while trying to kick the Allie’s out of the Mediterranean and Africa.

My last play through I was able to take literally every single allied territory & a few other countries. France, Poland, Soviet Union, Finland, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Netherlands, Switzerland, Britain, All of Africa(besides what Portugal has), every island the Brit’s had, India, Afganistan, Iran, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Vietnam, Philippines, Dutch Indies, Malaysia, Australia, New Zeland, Hawaii, & Alaska, all of the USA, Mexico and I’m sure there’s a few I missed in there. When I left off, I was gearing up to go to war with Japan and all the territory & puppet states they had in China.

How hard would it be to invade American? There’s a lot more citizens in the US have weapons on them, I think it be a lot more difficult to control civilians because having to deal with the fact that if you look away from some civilian you could get shot. Because there’s a lot more people with weapons and I believe it be way harder to make advancements into America do to Civilians having a carry on and yes I’m a American citizen (MY OPINION)

I bet that some of those who own a firearm won't know how to use it, half of the remaining won't be able to operate on stress and would think of escape and refugee especially during an invasion/war. Now half of the remaining would forget to take off the safety and would just die, half of those that did not die would probably aim horribly.100% miss rate. The rest that can do fight well still, are overwhelmed by way better equipment and experience. I don't know why you think I was even referring to Hollywood. If anything it was reality

Another problem with that last plan of going through Canada is that the U.S. was occupying Greenland at the time, so the U.S. would have been pulled into the war much sooner if this were to happen before Pearl Harbor

I'm very glad the war didn't make its way to the continental US but Im curious to know what the response would've been. Would all of the armed civilians wage guerrilla warfare against the Germans? Would they ban together and form militias? Or would they mostly flee or lay down their arms at the sight of the German war machine?

I believe they would've had their hands full with all the civilians in the US homeland. I'm from Southern Louisiana and the small country bumpkin parish I'm from would've been up in arms ready to ambush and sabotage any German advance. Can't say how effective they would be, but it wouldn't be the same experience as invading France for sure.

They would have 100% resisted. Remember most men at that time we’re going to volunteer for the military, couldn’t because of some reason but wanted to, or were ww1 vets. There would have been a Stalingrad in every US city.
