I thought it was a little underwhelming but I honestly think Anthony got caught up in all band stuff and got biased with his review. Why would you ever spend 3/4 of your time talking about him leaving the band, meanwhile he had like 4 lines on the whole project about that. Meanwhile don tried to bury him in dearly departed. What's so hard about imagining his side. He said I brought the gutter they needed to there music(not that his music is top 10 most grimy out there but in reference to the band). That's a fact that he brought a different vibe to the group. And obviously he feels like they didn't have his back regardless of whether or not not he was wrong. It annoys me to hear reviewers hear don and jizz themselves from how "raw and honest" his verse is but then hear ameer and try to nitpick holes. Its like he only focused on the controversy and not the music because that's what he imagines people wanna hear. Also keep in mind I'm a pretty big brockhampton/ameer van fan.

I didn’t feel like Ameer needed to apologise though. His music is what it is, we can’t expect him to just make a whole EP of apologies and guilt... I liked the dark, bitter EP that we got and I think it’s dumb to disagree wit it on the moral grounds of ‘it isn’t an apology’

I do love this EP, I like the majority of the songs.

You mention “if he’s conscious of these habits he’s grown up with, then he can adjust accordingly” and I agree completely, but it kinda felt like you were saying that like he hasn’t been doing that. To me, it seems like he’s genuinely been trying to better himself as a person sometime AFTER joining BROCKHAMPTON, of course he (most likely) had bad habits upon joining but during the saturation Trilogy I’ve seen nothing that even remotely seems “Gang-like” within his behavior besides his rapping.

Hey Anthony, I've been utterly captivated by the hidden gem that is 'the S.L.P.'. The S.L.P. project is the first solo album of Kasabian songwriter/guitarist/vocalist Sergio Lirorno Pizzorno and it's utterly briljant. The album floats through genres like a the Gorillaz' Plastic beach does. Songs like '(trance)', and 'Nobody else' are catchy and modern enough to be played on repeat on international radio. while the instrumental opening track really showcases his songwriting abilities and his talent as a multi-instrumentalist. It's an album that could be enjoyed by thousands of more people but sadly it seems to be going under many peoples radar

This was one of the albums I knew Fantano would misunderstand. The music itself is pretty boring, but lyrically it has a lot of substance. He is bitter, he is resentful, but that is what makes it interesting. It would be very pretentious to listen to albums you only agree with, for the same reason that the best books are those you don't agree with (Crime and Punishment? No one is reading it as a factual defense of Raskolnikov). No this album is a deep-dive into a person who is totally alienated from Others and cannot make amends.

I have it a 7/10. Emmanuel, Glock 19 and Los Angeles are the standouts.

It’s introspective, bitter, nihilistic, and self loathing at how his life as been and how it always will be until he decides to end it himself or puts himself in a situation where someone ends it for him

I liked how he acknowledged how his troubled past led him to becoming drug addicted and abusive, and how he’s aware that he’s always going to be a villain no matter what he does, so there isn’t any point in trying to apologize for what he’s been accused of.

This EP is exactly what it’s supposed to be: a brief outlet of raw hip hop with minimalist beats and themes of self loathing and nihilism from a former antihero turned villain. Anthony defiantly missed the mark here.

Although I enjoyed this EP quite a bit and would've given it a 7/10 this is a good review with a lot of point made. I do disagree that the flow on this is entire the same as his "Ameer flow" from Brockhampton. From what I heard I could tell that he was putting in an effort to switch up his flow. Glock 19 is fire 🔥. I think this EP is at least a 6 imo, but definitely agree some bars are very petty and had me saying “come on man, really?” and cringe a little . I mean, "getting out of your comfort zone"...Why would Anthony think it's comfortable for Ameer to drop lyrics about his fall out with BrockHampton? We are lacking the hard, gruesome vocals Ameer had with Brockhampton, in this EP I agree with, but it was in no way soft. Looking forward to Ameer's next project, I definitely enjoyed the entire EP.

I think you made a lot of good points, but couldn’t you argue his lack of morality/remorse add to the credibility and character of the project? Reinforces his sentiments even more? Idk it wasn’t mind blowing by any means but personally I think this deserved a little more than a 4

dude you have a lot of valid points and this is a completely fair review but yeah... no one else except bipolar/manic mentally ill individuals are gonna be able to pick up on a lot of what he is putting down. this is cathartic, clearly... i say we wait and see what happens after he's able to put all this behind him. you also are correct that he is clearly self aware enough to put himself on the right path if he really wanted to and i agree, right now it does not seem like he is, but my point is that he isn't done yet. i'm hoping he makes it through this tough time and uses this EP in a positive manner as vehicle to help him navigate into the light. but yeah... dark times, it ain't easy. also, loved what you said about the industry seeming to want to profit off of this horrible situation. thanks for what you do. interesting stuff

I'm not saying Emmanuel is even remotely close to I Dont Like Shit I Dont Go Outside but half the critiques on this video were praises for that album. Fantano seems highly biased just because the EP isn't 17 minutes of Ameer apologizing profusely for every single sin he committed in his lifetime. Still giving out 7s and 8s to people who were affiliated with gang violence though.
