1) AMEN is a cross-genre rock band mainly taking influence from 1980s hardcore, punk rock and black metal. They have had a number of different band members, with lead vocalist Casey Chaos the only surviving member of the original lineup. They had been voted "Overall Best Band in the World" and "Best Live Band in the World" by readers of Metal Hammer Magazine. Like iconic industrial rockers Nine Inch Nails, the band's music and lyrics are written entirely by the frontman, who also performs all instruments for studio recordings except for drums which are played by Shannon Larkin.
Early recordings were created in 1994 by Casey Chaos in the basement of his Los Angeles home, playing each instrument himself and using the name Amen to release the subsequent EP. Chaos later met Paul Figueroa through the LA music scene, and they formed a partnership. In the following months and years, the band expanded to include drummer Shannon Larkin, guitarist Sonny Mayo and bassist John Fahnestock, and they were signed to metal label Roadrunner Records.
Following the release of their eponymous album, produced by Ross Robinson, the band were set to tour Europe in December of 1999. This did not happen, with the band blaming a last-minute withdrawal of funding shortly prior to departure. Following this incident, Amen and Roadrunner went their separate ways. Subsequently several band members left, accompanied by a perceived drop in popularity. Chaos was helped out by friend Daron Malakian, whom he had met while both Amen and Malakian's band System of a Down were touring Australia as part of the Big Day Out music festival. Amen were the first band signed to Malakian's EatUrMusic label, and their subsequent release, Death Before Musick, was regarded as being a mild commercial success.
The 2005 tour supporting the album Death Before Musick was postponed when Chaos was rushed into hospital. Apparently against medical advice the tour was restarted a couple of months late.
At the last few shows the band played during 2005 they performed a couple of new songs.

Sorry Not Sorry
Amen Lyrics

Sit back and just retire
Sit back and open fire
Sit back and
Live in submission
Live in a choice
It never meant that much to me
Without a voice
I only live when I can't breathe
We couldn't kiss we couldn't fight
We couldn't wait for tomorrow
Without a fist without a fight
We waited for no tomorrow
Sorry
I'm not sorry
Sorry to live my life this way
Sorry to let myself decay
Sorry, I'm not sorry
Sorry to live my life this way
Sorry to let myself decay
Sit back and open fire
Sit back and
It didn't kill us
The pleasure did
Infected from the things I did
Rip off the willing
Rip off the tried
Slip in beds and open fire
Riot now! Let it be known
And right now just leave me alone
That it's too close for you
'Cause it's too close for me
It meant nothing to you
It was nothing to me
Sorry
I'm not sorry
Sorry to live my life this way
Sorry to let myself decay
Sorry, I'm not sorry
Sorry to live my life this way
Sorry to let myself decay
Sit back and open fire
Sit back and
Right now!
Just let them open fire
Right now!
Just let them open fire
Right now!
Just let them open fire
Right now!
Just let them open wide
Right now!
Sorry, I'm not sorry
Right now!
Sit back and open fire
The song "Sorry Not Sorry" by Amen begins with an invitation to "sit back and open fire," which can be interpreted as a call to action, challenging the listener to take control and make their voices heard. The lyrics then describe a life lived in submission and without a voice, where the only time the singer feels truly alive is when they can't breathe. The theme of powerlessness is further emphasized through the lines "Without permission, without a voice." The refrain "Sorry, I'm not sorry" then serves as a defiant declaration, indicating that the singer refuses to apologize for the way they live their life, even though it may lead to decay.
The second verse of the song introduces the idea that pleasure can be just as harmful as pain, and that the singer has hurt others through their actions. The line "Rip off the willing, rip off the tried, slip in beds and open fire" suggests sexual violence, and the expression "infected from the things I did" implies the spread of disease. The chorus is then repeated, again affirming the singer's refusal to apologize for their lifestyle. The last part of the song urges listeners to "let them open fire" and "sit back and open fire," bringing the theme of taking control and making one's voice heard full circle.
Overall, "Sorry Not Sorry" by Amen is a powerful and somewhat disturbing song that explores themes of powerlessness, pleasure, and decay. Through its lyrics, it encourages listeners to take control of their lives and to never apologize for living the way they want to, no matter the consequences.
