Panzer
Amplifier Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Slip coma deep inside an industrialist's mind
Pour yourself into the creased appeal of a financeman's suit
You keep on exchanging handshakes and smiles
With chat show hosts like butterflies
Fly down and hide in the zeros and the ones
And let's all sing

Hallelujah! Hallelujah!
The missile can fly
Decode the cypher
The cryptic message within a government health warning
And it's the same,
It's the same
Same song everytime
Oh no! Your big mushroom cloud
It's gone and it's fucked up my view

Don't matter which way we're facing
So long as we're rolling forward
It don't matter which way we're facing
So long as we're rolling forward
Here we go, here we go, here we go

Well we could seek a world of jackpots
And corportate value, yeah
And learn to leave our ugly selves behind
You've got to feel the power as it flows
From businessmen and mother lodes
Become a soul of pure caffeine
Live life like a coke machine, yeah

Hallelujah! Hallelujah!
Praise god for hollywood teeth
Crash your karma into little bits of happiness
Now it's okay,
It's okay
I know a quick and easy way
We ain't divine, we've all got our faults
Seismic minds think seismic sized thoughts

Don't matter which way we're facing
You'd better look out below
Relentless without ever tiring
We're gonna keep rolling forward
Here we go, here we go, here we go

Here we go
Here we go, here we go, here we go

Mister executive man
Pick your way through the debris
Lubricate your gun
Between the devil and the sea
Sleeping solvent and sound
And ethically free
Right upon my back
A panzer running over me
When I had my hands in the air
Invoice me
And then your mother

Don't matter which way we're facing
You'd better look out below
Relentless without ever tiring

We're gonna keep rolling forward
Here we go, here we go, here we go

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Amplifier's song Panzer seem to be a commentary on the dangers of power and greed in our society. The opening lines encourage us to slip into an industrialist's mind, suggesting that the desire for wealth and success drives many people to lose sight of their morals and ethics. The chorus, with its repeated exclamation of "Hallelujah!" and references to missiles and government health warnings, seems to be a sarcastic comment on the worship of power and technology in our society.

The second verse speaks of the temptation to pursue material success at the expense of our humanity, urging us to "leave our ugly selves behind" and become "a soul of pure caffeine" - a reference to the addictive, destructive nature of many aspects of modern life. The final section of the song seems to depict a brutal struggle for survival in a cutthroat world, with the imagery of the panzer tank crushing the singer, who pleads for mercy.

Overall, Panzer seems to be a scathing critique of the worship of power and success at any cost, and a warning about the dangers of losing our humanity in the pursuit of material gain.

i still prefer that to rom pom pom pom

VinMetal

+james l turner Muse wish they were bands like this or ManSun, their sound is basically one part Radiohead, one part this, one part ManSun and one part generic parody of prog rock

+Alex Blex lyrics are pretty shit IMO. just random words and thoughts vaguely having the ''omg the world is so bad'' direction

It is a wonderful era for music, and songs, no albums, no bands like this prove it. No use to care about those who don't dig this and their musical taste (if they have any). Amplifier is like a train full of metal and emotion rolling through your mind and electrifying all your synapses. This band is like a good wine, only those interested can really enjoy this. Why care about pop culture and what they miss? Simple things for simple minds (no pun intended).

It should be Ministry but I'm sooo glad that they didn't! Amazing band, amazing album.
