Can't stop what's coming over me
I can't stop what's coming
I dream of falling into you - like sleep-
Not to feel, just sleep
"Can't Stop What's Coming" by Amy Lee is a song that can be interpreted in many ways, but one of the most common interpretations is that it's about a feeling of inevitability. The first line, "Can't stop what's coming," suggests that the singer feels like something is going to happen, whether they want it to or not. This feeling is reinforced in the second line, "Can't stop what's coming over me," where the singer feels like they're being overtaken by something they can't control. The repetition of "Can't stop what's coming" in the chorus emphasizes this feeling of inevitability.
The next two lines, "I can't stop what's coming / I dream of falling into you - like sleep-," suggest that the singer is almost resigned to this inevitable thing happening. They can't stop it, and maybe they can't even resist it. The metaphor of falling into someone like sleep suggests a kind of surrender or resignation.
Overall, the song has a dreamy, melancholic feel to it, which only adds to the sense of inevitability. The repetition of "can't stop what's coming" throughout the song creates a sense of circularity, as though the events the singer is describing are part of an endless cycle that can't be broken.
