If you want to get down, down on the ground: Cocaine
She don't lie
She don't lie
She don't lie
Cocaine
When your turn is done and you want to ride on: Cocaine
She don't lie
She don't lie
She don't lie
Cocaine
If you figure it's gone and you want to ride on: Cocaine
Don't forget this fact you can't get it back: Cocaine
Ride on
She don't lie
She don't lie
She don't lie
Cocaine
The song, Cocaine by Andy Taylor, is a cover of a 1977 song written by J.J. Cale. The lyrics describe the effects of the drug cocaine and how it can be a temporary escape from life's problems. The first verse suggests that if someone wants to spend time with the person mentioned in the song, they must provide cocaine as it is the only way to keep her company. The second verse implies that when someone experiences a low moment in life, they can use cocaine to lift their spirits and ease their pain. The chorus repeats the phrase "she don't lie" three times, which could indicate that the drug cocaine promises an illusion of happiness.
The third verse suggests that once someone starts using cocaine, they can't stop or "get it back." The final lines "Ride on, she don't lie" is open to interpretation. It could mean to keep using cocaine, even when it's not there to sustain the illusion, it brings or ride on without it.
