No More Faith
Angel Dust Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

How do you feel, do you feel real good?
Well, I do not believe
'Cause you seem to be someone else
Than you pretend to be

Something crept into your mind
Nimble as a snake
It sells you shit for truth
And you'll never recognize, no more

Do you wonder all the pain
That is hidden within steel
I'll tell you for nothing
You only fear yourself

No more, no more faith
Love or hatred, pain or pleasure
No escape from your sentimental
Treasures, better face the truth

All the money that you spend
For beauty creams and masks
Will never ever hide the scars
That lies left on your face

No more, no more faith
No more, no more faith

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Angel Dust's song No More Faith seem to be commenting on the futility of seeking external validation and relying on material possessions for happiness. The opening lines question whether the listener feels good but then go on to express the singer's disbelief in this response. The implication is that the feeling of goodness is not genuine but instead a façade. The singer then warns the listener that something has crept into their mind which is selling them "shit for truth" and preventing them from recognizing what is real. This could be interpreted as a critique of popular culture and the messages that it promotes.

The second verse delves deeper into the theme of self-awareness and acceptance. The singer suggests that the listener may be hiding behind physical beauty products and masks to avoid facing the truth about themselves. The allusion to scars on the face as a metaphor for emotional scars is particularly poignant. The chorus then repeats the phrase "no more faith" which can be interpreted as the abandonment of belief in external factors for satisfaction.

Overall, the song seems to be promoting the idea of authenticity and self-acceptance. It urges the listener to look inward instead of outward for fulfillment and to face the truth about themselves instead of hiding behind masks and material possessions.

If you don't have this album, there's a gaping void in your music library.

I agree. This was an album that got played in my high school days alot. I think if this album had been released a year earlier before the grunge scene had started it would had been an absolute monster. Its definitely an overlooked classic in my opinion.

@joshuafult84

@@andrewmontemiglio1468 it was huge but I get your point it didn't get a lot of attention in the United States.

I got fired from my job, dumped by my girlfriend, evicted from my apartment, assaulted by a quintet of thirteen year old girls who stole my wallet and not the right one but only the left sock, then shortly thereafter pummeled to near death by an elderly couple who were both under the influence of PCP and Geritol on my 11th birthday. This album was released 20 years later and helped me get through all of that. Thanks.

@nickott158

Maybe my most listened-to album of all time. Still sounds good after 30 years.
