I fear and hope that my heart will be exposed
Oh I'm so close it feels so far
It's such a part, such a part, such a part of who we are
I'm miles from what's in front of me
(I'm miles from what's in front of me)
(I'm miles away)
Once in love, right now I feel I've lost it all
To someone else's painted world
It's such a part, such a part, such a part of who we are
I'm miles from what's in front of me
(I'm miles from what's in front of me)
Feels like I'm chasing the road beneath my feet
(I'm miles away)
From where I stand it's so out of my reach
I'm miles from what's in front of me...
But I'm running for it
Until I can't catch my breath
Oh but I'm running for it
Until I can't catch my breath
But I'm running for it
I'm running for it
I'm miles from what's in front of me
(I'm miles from what's in front of me)
Feels like I'm chasing the road beneath my feet
(I'm miles away)
I'm miles from what's in front of me
(I'm miles from what's in front of me)
Feels like I'm chasing the road beneath my feet
(I'm miles away)
Miles from what's in front of me
The song "Miles" by Angie Miller portrays the feeling of being far away from what one desires or wants. The opening line "I found myself counting dreams to sleep again" hints at the discomfort and anxiety the singer is experiencing as they try to distance themselves from their thoughts. The lyrics suggest that the singer's heart is on the line, and they fear that it will be exposed. The internal struggle may stem from their closeness to their desires that make it all the more difficult to reach.
The chorus of the song repeats the phrase "I'm miles from what's in front of me" which reinforces the distance between the singer and what they want. The singer feels as though they're chasing something, but the "road beneath [their] feet" continues indefinitely, suggesting that they're not making any progress. The singer once felt as though they had everything, but now they feel as though it's all gone to someone else's painted world. Again, the singer describes how distant they feel from their goals and desires.

She has one of the most beautiful voices I've ever heard. Should've won American Idol.
