Anouk has released twelve studio albums to date, the most recent one being Wen d'r maar aan, released on 12 October 2018. She represented the Netherlands at the Eurovision Song Contest 2013 in Malmö, Sweden, with the song "Birds". Her song made it to the final – the first since 2004 for the Netherlands; and finished 9th with 114 points.
Musical style
Anouk's musical style has been described as a combination of Joan Osborne, Melissa Etheridge and Alanis Morissette. She is known for explosive rock songs like "Nobody's Wife" and "R U Kiddin' Me", but has also made small and fragile songs like "Lost" and "Michel". In addition to her pop/rock sound she also experiments with soul, funk and hip hop.
Personal life
Anouk was married to her manager Edwin Jansen until 1998. She married Remon Stotijn (aka The Anonymous Mis), frontman of the reggae/rap band Postmen, on 16 March 2004. Stotijn is the father of three of her children; son Benjahmin Kingsley (b. 18 April 2002), son Elijah Jeramiah (b. 5 December 2003) and daughter Phoenix Ray (b. 3 June 2005). In May 2008, Anouk and Remon announced a "harmonious" mutual separation. In 2010 Anouk gave birth to her fourth child, a son named Jesiah Dox. Her son Sion Jethro was born in June 2014. In June 2016, she gave birth to her sixth child, a baby girl, Jelizah Rose, with her current partner, mixed martial artist and former basketball player Dominique Schemmekes.
Wait And See
Anouk Lyrics

I try to understand, the way I'm thinking
Keep all options open, I'd rather wait and see
What's gonna happen next
Yeah I like to wait and see
What's gonna happen next
Yeah I like to wait
That keeps getting thrown at me
How do you decide, what to do
With all the complications, all the doubts
Do you want it with or without
So now you just wait and see... hey
Now you just wait
Please don't be mad
But I already miss you
It doesn't matter anyway
I hope you missed your.. your runaway train
I wake to find myself asleep
Weiry of life
I laugh, I'll moan, I'll cry
And I'll try not to wait
Please don't be mad
But I already miss you
It doesn't matter anyway
I hope you missed your.. your runaway train
No don't be mad
Cause I already miss you
It doesn't matter anyway
Let's hope you missed your.. your runaway train
I laugh, I'll moan, I'll cry
Your runaway train
I laugh, I'll moan, I'll cry
But anyway
I laugh, I'll moan, I'll cry
I already miss you, yeah
I laugh, I'll moan, I'll cry
It's such a shame
I laugh, I'll moan, I'll cry
Anyway
I laugh, I'll moan, I'll cry
I already yeah
I already
I already miss you yeah
I already miss you yeah yeah yeah
I already miss you yeah
And I, I, I..
I already miss you yeah
I feel completely diconnected from the world I'm living in
I try to understand, the way I'm thinking
Keep all options open, I'd rather wait and see
What's gonna happen next
In Anouk's song "Wait And See," the singer feels disconnected from the world around them and is struggling to understand their own thoughts and how to navigate the complications and doubts of life. The lyric "I choke on all the information that keeps getting thrown at me" speaks to the overwhelming nature of modern life and the constant barrage of news, opinions, and expectations that can easily leave one feeling lost and paralyzed. The singer admits to missing someone they have separated from, but also acknowledges that it may not matter in the end - "It doesn't matter anyway / Let's hope you missed your.. your runaway train." Overall, the song captures a sense of uncertainty and confusion, but also a determination to keep moving forward and to wait and see what the future holds.
One interesting fact about Anouk's "Wait And See" is that it was released as the third single from her 2005 album "Hotel New York," which was a major commercial success in the Netherlands and several other European countries. The song itself did not chart as high as the album's lead single "Girl" or its follow-up "Lost," but it remains a fan favorite to this day. Another interesting fact is that Anouk has stated in interviews that the lyrics to the song were inspired by a conversation she had with filmmaker Robert Rodriguez about the challenges of staying focused and motivated in an ever-changing world. Additionally, the song has been covered by several other artists, including Dutch singer Edsilia Rombley and Indonesian singer Mytha Lestari.
Here are the chords for the song (as played on guitar):
Verse: Am, F, C, G
Bridge: F, G, C, G
Chorus: Am, F, C, G
(Note: The actual key may vary depending on which version of the song you listen to or which cover version you are playing along with.)
