El Reloj Y La Vela

un reloj a una vela
que se yo,
la coincidencia que
la vela se quema,
y el reloj no se altera.
Buscando siempre
moriré,
sin permitir
que dos frías agujas,
dirijan mi ser.
-Estribillo-
Yo cantaré mientras la vela se quema
y moriré aunque de vueltas la esfera,
yo cantaré hasta el final de la vela
y moriré aunque la cera sea eterna.
Desdibujando las formas
a fuego lento,
igual que el tiempo deforma
tu cara y tu cuerpo.
Como el tiempo y el fuego
es eterno y sincero,
igual que el canto que hago
me asusta y te entrego.
-Estribillo-
The song "El Reloj y La Vela" by Antonio Orozco talks about the similarities between a watch and a candle. The song captures how the candle burns away with time, while the watch remains unaltered. Orozco goes deeper and searches for answers about the reasons for things in life, but despite all the questioning, he knows that he will die without allowing himself to be controlled by two cold hands of the watch. He sings that he will keep singing and living his life, even when the candle burns away, and he will die regardless of the constant turning of the watch's hands.
The second verse of the song talks about how things in life can be distorted or lost over time, with comparisons made to both fire and time. Just as time changes and shapes the way people look, and as flames can slowly distort the shapes of objects, Orozco's singing is also affected by these entities. He is scared, but he continues to give everything he has, and he strives to deliver it from the bottom of his heart.
