Tapas
Antonio Orozco Lyrics

una mirada sin voz,
un ralentí de coraje,
y un barrio susurrando amor.
Un discutir entre fichas,
en la escala del domino,
un manantial de cerveza,
Si tapas tu, tapo yo
tápalo y dejalo. No lo remuevas por Dios!.
Si tapas tu, tapo yo, tápalo y entiéndelo. No se lo cuentes al sol.
No,no... tu barrio hecho canción.
No,no... tu barrio hecho canción.

The song "Tapas" by Antonio Orozco is a nostalgic ode to the typical and charming neighborhoods of Spain. The lyrics depict a scene of a police raid on the street, but amidst the chaos, the neighborhood whispers love. This contrast highlights the dichotomy of urban life, where the troubles of the city can exist side by side with the beauty of everyday human connection. The song continues on to describe the tranquility found at the local bar during a game of dominoes or with a pint of beer in hand, and the comfort of listening to the same familiar barrio songs. The refrain "If you cover up, I'll cover up. Cover it and leave it. Don't stir it up, for God's sake" emphasizes the need for community solidarity and the importance of protecting what makes the neighborhood special.
The song maintains its focus on the local community, where Monday's unemployment and the balance at the bar is the norm. The song praises the unity of the neighborhood in times of trouble, as they share the burden of tough times. The lyrics also discuss the value of nostalgia as the song moves on to talk about the persistence of memories and dreams, and how the neighborhood defines the individual. The song concludes by reinforcing the notion that the neighborhood is "the song," and it provides a sense of identity, history, and belonging to everyone who lives there.
