Before their unfortunate demise, Apocalypse Hoboken toured with the likes of The Vandals, The Ataris, Ten Foot Pole, Less Than Jake, Swingin' Utters, Agent Orange, Guttermouth, Strung Out, Bigwig, Suicide Machines, At the Drive In, Murder City Devils, and appeared on West Coast dates of the Warped Tour.
Their last show in 2003 sold out Chicago's Metro, and though they haven't recorded a shred of new music in five years, demand for their live act has never been greater. A reunion at the Abbey Pub with all-original members promises to be a highlight of 2006.

Congested
Apocalypse Hoboken Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
I can smell your breath from here
Cut you down
Let the words crawl from your mouth
Try this on
We'll call it new age apathy
Push you down
Cuz it's the new recipe
All the kids found out what's missing
It's so hard to try to be different
And I don't know what it'll add up to be
Moses split the sea with the wink of an eye
There's a whole lot of people that don't know why
I know we're all gonna die
So let's believe in something we can't see
Sniffing dope
Can lead to massive atrophy
Interpretation
Of one's own apocrypha
Baby's sick
Let's fondle one another
Smash it up
Let's mock one another
Hey God can you hear me?
I'd like to try the recipe
It all ends with a little luck
The song "Congested" by Apocalypse Hoboken is a punk song that criticizes the idea of apathy and conformity in society. The opening lines "I can smell your breath from here/Cut you down/Let the words crawl from your mouth" suggest a distaste for the conformity that one might encounter in daily life, especially in social situations where people are not authentic in their expressions. The chorus "All the kids found out what's missing/It's so hard to try to be different" emphasizes the difficulty of breaking away from the norm and being an individual.
The second verse highlights the dangers of apathy, as "Sniffing dope/Can lead to massive atrophy" and the apocryphal interpretations people put upon themselves are unproductive. The chorus repeats, emphasizing the need to believe in something even if it is not visible. The song concludes with the line "It all ends with a little luck," suggesting that it is uncertain what the outcome of life will be but believing in something, anything, can give hope in the end.
