Before their unfortunate demise, Apocalypse Hoboken toured with the likes of The Vandals, The Ataris, Ten Foot Pole, Less Than Jake, Swingin' Utters, Agent Orange, Guttermouth, Strung Out, Bigwig, Suicide Machines, At the Drive In, Murder City Devils, and appeared on West Coast dates of the Warped Tour.
Their last show in 2003 sold out Chicago's Metro, and though they haven't recorded a shred of new music in five years, demand for their live act has never been greater. A reunion at the Abbey Pub with all-original members promises to be a highlight of 2006.

Summer Assault
Apocalypse Hoboken Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
And all the holes laughed at our miss
While the others danced to toy box bands
It didn't make a difference they still try to break you
I know you have to have a reason
For all the wallets that walked out the in door
It doesn't matter what your parents said
It doesn't matter it just don't matter
Waiting for all the bars to shut down
You got them running another night on the town
Summer assault and summer time
Looking through your bloodshot eyes
You get it on
I know I got a right to be wrong
That's why I wrote all of you this song
Some are weak and some are strong
Looking through your braindead eyes
You get it on
Last night out piss turned to beer
And all out shows ended in fear
While the others danced that cocaine dance
It didn't make a difference it's all still the same to you
I know that things are getting better
And you made them believe that you're a go-getter
It doesn't matter what those teachers said
It doesn't matter it just don't matter
He fingers you âtil the morning
You can't wait âtil next weekend
Some things never change
Most things stay the same
I'm afraid for you and me
That we'll end up like dead batteries
Chances are I'll be dead and gone
So get it on
The lyrics to Apocalypse Hoboken's song "Summer Assault" seem to explore moments of desperation and nihilism that arise from drinking excessively and feeling somewhat lost. The first verse describes a night where their beer turned to piss and they were laughed at by others while they failed to dance to "toy box bands." The lyrics suggest that they feel like outsiders, as if there are forces actively trying to break them down. They acknowledge that everyone has a reason for their actions, which is likely a comment on the idea that everyone is struggling in some way, whether it's visible or not. They seem to be reflecting on having experienced disappointment, as evidenced by the reference to wallets walking out the in door.
The second verse turns to the experience of waiting for bars to shut down, and the moments of connection and release that can come from being inebriated. There is a sense of urgency and desperation in the lyrics, as they encourage the listener to "get it on" and suggest that things won't always stay the same. They reference the cocaine dance, which brings to mind images of frantic movement and a desire to escape reality. The final lines offer a sense of foreboding and acceptance that death is inevitable, and that life is meant to be lived in the moment.
Overall, the lyrics to "Summer Assault" seem to be exploring feelings of alienation, desperation, and nihilism. They reference moments of disappointment and disillusionment and offer a sense of urgency to live life to the fullest, even if it means making mistakes.
