Begin
Apollo Junction Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

You look at the world with a telescope
You look inside with a kaleidoscope
You don't look at the sky
Like we look at the sky
You don't look at the sky
Look at the sky

Lives we're in
Know when to start
Don't know when to begin
Lives we live begin

Put up your hands if you believe in chance
I'll follow my heart won't follow your plan
You don't look at the world
Like we look at the world
You don't look at the world
Look at the world

Lives we're in
Know when to start
Don't know when to begin
Lives we live begin
Lives we're in
Know when to start
Don't know when to begin
Today our lives begin

Sing me a song
A modern day hymn
Sing it now I'm listening
Make me believe we're not just born to leave
And we
Will begin
Sing me a song for the modern times
Let it fill the silent empty night
We
Will Begin
Begin

Lives we're in
Know when to start
Don't know when to begin
Lives we live begin
Lives we're in
Know when to start

Don't know when to begin
Today our lives begin

Overall Meaning

The song "Begin" by Apollo Junction is a declaration to start embracing life wholeheartedly. The singer acknowledges that there are different ways of looking at the world, and they admire the way that someone else does, through a telescope and kaleidoscope. These tools represent different perspectives - telescopes reveal the big picture, and kaleidoscopes show different shapes and patterns. The singer wants to embrace both perspectives, and they encourage the listener to do the same.

The lyrics touch on hesitation - knowing when to start but not when to begin. It appears as though the singer has been living passively, waiting for a sign to begin their life. But now they are ready to act, and they want the listener to follow suit. They reject the idea of following someone else's plan and opt to follow their heart instead. Ultimately, they want to start living life on their own terms.

The song has a hopeful and optimistic tone, and the bridge serves as a rallying cry. The singer asks for a song of modern times, a hymn for a new era. They want to believe that they aren't "just born to leave," and assert that they will begin - a promise and a vow to take action and start living.

This is my opinion but I think watchdogs put the song in their game not just to put it in there for being a good song but to give smaller bands some recognition because they can also great music even though they are smaller than the other bands
