In 2013, Architects parted with Century Media, self-releasing the documentary One Hundred Days: The Story of Architects Almost World Tour and joining Epitaph Records. They released their sixth album Lost Forever // Lost Together through the label in 2014, achieving widespread critical acclaim which has lasted since. Soon after the release of their follow-up All Our Gods Have Abandoned Us in 2016, principal guitarist and songwriter Tom Searle died after three years of living with skin cancer. In September 2017, the band released the single "Doomsday"—the last song that he was working on before his death—and announced Josh Middleton of Sylosis as their new lead guitarist. The single is included on their new album Holy Hell, which was released in November 2018 and is their first written without Searle.
All members of the band are vegan, having turned to veganism after watching several documentaries on the subject. They also promote the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society, with Carter being one of its British ambassadors.
2) Architects was a screamo/emo-violence band brought up with members of Austin, Texas' own Toru Okada. Now known as the band Faithealer. 3) Architects (also ArchitectsKCMO) is also the name used by a Kansas City Soul Rock band who've released 4 albums (Keys To The Building 2005, Revenge 2006, Vice 2007 and The Hard Way 2009). They were formed from the ashes of Hellcat Records (and later Thick Records) Ska/Pop/Rock band The Gadjits. The Architects sound is a mature version of the later Gadjits material, dropping all ska influence for a Springsteen & The Who sounding rock approach. They are currently signed to Skeleton Crew Records.

Are we desperate creatures crawling in the dirt?
Or are we lonely preachers hiding our beating hearts?
We sow the wind and reap the storm
Don't say you haven't been warned
No future's written
There's endless possibility
We suffer to survive
If hope is a prison, then maybe faith will set me free
We suffer to survive
Am I just a victim drifting in the raging sea?
We suffer to survive
If a kingdom resides behind my own eyes
I've got to catch the stone and cradle the wave
Damnation is just a daydream away
But still, we carry on
If I'm God in disguise, praying for the rain
And if our demons decide
Then is this all in vain?
We sow the wind and reap the storm
Don't say you haven't been warned
It's time to confess
I haunt this flesh
I answer my own prayers
I bid my own despair
No future's written
There's endless possibility
We suffer to survive
If hope is a prison, then maybe faith will set me free
We suffer to survive
Am I just a victim drifting in the raging sea?
We suffer to survive
But still, we carry on
There's a lesson in this, what I resist persists
And damnation is just a daydream away
If hope is a prison, then maybe faith will set me free
We suffer to survive
Am I just a victim drifting in the raging sea?
We suffer to survive
The lyrics of Architects' song "Damnation" delve into the themes of suffering, survival, hope, faith, and self-reflection. The opening lines question the nature of humanity, asking if we are desperate creatures struggling to survive or lonely individuals hiding our true emotions. The imagery of sowing the wind and reaping the storm conveys the idea that our actions have consequences, and we cannot escape the outcomes of our choices. The warning against ignoring these consequences serves as a reminder of the importance of personal accountability.
The repeated refrain of "We suffer to survive" reinforces the idea that life is filled with challenges and hardships that we must navigate. The mention of hope as a potential prison suggests that holding onto optimism can sometimes feel restricting, while faith is presented as a possible source of liberation. The reference to being adrift in a raging sea highlights the feeling of helplessness and vulnerability that can accompany life's struggles.
The existential reflections in the lyrics ponder the idea of individual agency and the potential for redemption. The imagery of a kingdom residing within one's own eyes speaks to the power of self-awareness and introspection. The idea of damnation being just a daydream away suggests that self-destructive tendencies are ever-present but can be overcome with resilience and perseverance.
The concluding verses emphasize the importance of self-acceptance and taking responsibility for one's own actions. The acknowledgment of personal struggles and the decision to confront them head-on reflect a sense of growth and maturity. The exploration of hope, faith, and resilience in the face of adversity ultimately conveys a message of persevering through life's challenges and finding strength in the midst of suffering.
