Xenophobe: a Car
Armchair Martian Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

I came around again, they say i lost my mind
and you'd know that i was the hardest one to find
so i'm a xenophobe, i'm a car without a mind
speeding a bee line and either or will soar this time
come around again, pretend to be my friend
because i'll be waiting for you, for the hate to end
come around again, pretend to be my friend
because i'll be waiting for you, for the hate to end

xenophobe, he drove a car with rocket fins
and he ate with his hands, he never knew where they'd been
xenophobe, he was in love with her and then
then he hated her, hated all....
come around again, pretend to be my friend
because i'll be waiting for you, for the hate to end
come around again, pretend to be my friend
because i'll be waiting for you, waiting for the hate

come around again, pretend to be my friend
because i'll be waiting for you, waiting for the hate
come around again, pretend to be my friend
because i'll be waiting for you
another one to be with you, another one to see with you
another one to be with you, waiting for the hate

another one to be with you, another one to see with you
another one to be with you, to bend and pound and break one more time

Overall Meaning

The song "Xenophobe" by Armchair Martian expresses feelings of isolation, rejection, and bitterness towards the world. The opening lines, "I came around again, they say I lost my mind, and you’d know that I was the hardest one to find" convey a sense of detachment from society and a search for identity. The singer feels rejected and disconnected from the world around them, becoming a "xenophobe," which implies someone who fears or hates strangers or foreigners.

Throughout the song, the singer continues to express a sense of isolation, emphasizing their lack of connection to the world. The line "I'm a car without a mind, speeding a bee line, and either or will soar this time" reinforces the idea of being lost and directionless. The repeated verse "come around again, pretend to be my friend, because I'll be waiting for you, for the hate to end" suggests a desperate longing for human connection, even if it is based on false pretenses.

The song also touches on the theme of love and its complexities. The lines "xenophobe, he was in love with her and then, then he hated her, hated all" suggest a love turned sour, and the singer's feelings of resentment towards the person they once loved.

Overall, "Xenophobe" is a hard-hitting song that speaks to the complex emotions of rejection, isolation, and bitterness. The narrative is dark and introspective, capturing a sense of hopelessness and despair that many people face when struggling to find their place in the world.

I also discovered these guys through Courier Crisis. What a fun game! Whish they would've made a sequel for the PS2 to improve the graphics/game play. I've actually become a fan of Armchair Martian...they've got a lot of good material.
