Tell me baby
Do you wanna go to the land of the mysterious and the dangerous, Chicago
Baby, I'll see you next time

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Armstrong's song "Chicago" are an invitation to explore the city of Chicago. The song is grounded in the idea that Chicago is a city full of wonder, adventure, and danger. Armstrong is addressing his lover and proposing to her to visit Chicago, the "land of the mysterious and the dangerous." He is confident that they will have a good time together and promises to see her again, assuring her that their next meeting would not be far off. The lyrics are symbolic, they showcase how artists perceive various cities and how it influences their music.

The song talks about Chicago as a dangerous city. This could be interpreted in many ways; it could be the city's reputation for crime, its political underbelly, or the possibility of encountering a mishap while exploring the city. Armstrong's lyrics also portray Chicago as an adventurous city, offering a different perspective on the idea of danger. Armstrong is probably alluding to the city's hotbed of jazz, blues, and improvisational music, which is famous worldwide. The lyrics are not a first-hand account of the city's actual dangers, but merely perceptions that musicians and writers associate with the city.

BJ Armstrong was the favorite of kids all over the world because he gave them hope and made them believe that you can be 12 years old and play in the NBA as teammate of Michael Jordan.

BJ Armstrong was an incredible & effective player; his biggest strengths were his defensive presence & his heart... even though I still believe his 1994 All-Star Selection wasn't deserved.

His young-at-heart enthusiasm was contagious. He was also excellent at setting up his teammates on the court.

Great choice song BTW!

Veoshock !!

I can see your point about his all star selection. Well said about his attributes. You hit the nail on the head.

Young Blood

@Veoshock !! Why didn't the Bull restrict BJ Armstrong from entering the expansion draft? I would've loved to see him stay for the entire dynasty. But he was clutch & was mentally tough. I would've rather him than Randy Brown lol. They always had at least 2 small guard snipers on the team. 1st 3 peat - Hodges, Paxson, Armstrong. 2nd 3 peat should've been BJ & Steve Kerr.

@ D.T.-I disagree with you on B.J. Armstrong not deserving a 1994 All-Star Selection. B.J. Armstrong was an Alternative- Choice as far as an All-Star selection that year, as were a couple of dudes named John Starks, Kenny Anderson, and even fellow Bulls Star Horace Grant. Michael Jordan retired the year b-4, and I think that freed up a lot of All-Star Votes in which seemed to make a little bit more room or space. And B.J. Armstrong was the leading vote getter for guards in that All-Star Year of 1994 t00.

@Veoshock !! - B.J. Armstrong deserved his All-Star selection in 1994, I mean just look up his stats that year. And he was even the leading vote getter amongst guards that year for thee All-Star Game.
