How many days until the levee breaks?
I'm out on my perch to watch it all outfold
When everyone's changing, arranging, they're let down
Sleepwalkers waking to carry your soul around
This world is twisted
This world is twisted
Push and repeat through all the hollow days
We stare at our feet, content to be afraid
I climb to my perch to watch it all unfold
When everyone's changing, arranging, they're let down
Sleepwalkers waking to carry your soul around
This world is twisted
This world is twisted
This world, twisted
This world is twisted
When everyone's changing, arranging, they're let down
Sleepwalkers waking to carry your soul around
This world is twisted
This world is twisted
In the song "Twisted" by Aron Wright, the singer expresses their amazement of how much people can pretend or "fake" things in the present, while anticipating the near future when it all collapses or "the levee breaks". The singer is watching everything unfold from a high point of view or "perch". The song conveys how people keep repeating the same routine or cycle, afraid to step out of their comfort zone, and content with their mundane existence.
Throughout the song, the singer repeats the phrase "When everyone's changing, arranging, they're let down", which implies that people may try to change or move forward but ultimately, end up disappointed or "let down". The phrase "sleepwalkers waking to carry your soul around" paints a picture of people living their lives without truly being aware of it or being in control of it. The repeated line "This world is twisted" reinforces the notion that things are not as they should be, and adds a hint of cynicism to the singer's tone.
Overall, the song "Twisted" by Aron Wright is a poignant commentary on the current state of the world, where people are stuck in their ways and are too afraid to take risks, thus perpetuating the cycle of sameness.
