As It Is Lyrics

I hate to watch this moment where we are
Disappear into the dark
My heart is getting heavy and it's sinking down
To the bottom of a bad dream
And nothing you could do could ever save me now
So it's best that you forget me
(Gone, gone, gone, gone)
Will I sleep through the nightmare
Or wake up and you're not there
(I don't want to wake up this time)
Am I dreaming in silence
Or screaming and holding on
To a hope that's gone
(Hope that's gone)
Stay
Don't leave me in this state of steady pain
It hurts beyond what words can say
You know I'm never ready when it's time to go
So don't tell me that it's over
I'm always getting caught up in the undertow
And I'm dragged a little lower
'Cause I'm gone
('Cause I'm gone, 'cause I'm gone)
(Gone, gone, gone, gone)
Will I sleep through the nightmare
Or wake up and you're not there
(I don't want to wake up this time)
Am I dreaming in silence
Or screaming and holding on
To a hope that's gone
(Hope that's gone, hope that's gone)
Will I sleep through the nightmare
Or wake up and you're not there
I don't want to wake up this time
Will I sleep through the nightmare
Or wake up and you're not there
(I don't want to wake up this time)
Am I dreaming in silence
Or screaming and holding on
To a hope that's gone
Will I sleep through the nightmare
Will I sleep through the nightmare
(I don't want to wake up this time)
Am I dreaming in silence
Or screaming and holding on
To a hope that's gone
(To a hope that's gone)
The lyrics to "I'm Gone" by As It Is express a feeling of deep sadness and despair. The song seems to be about a relationship that is falling apart, and the singer is acknowledging that there is nothing that can be done to save it. The opening lines, "I hate to watch this moment where we are, Disappear into the dark," convey a sense of helplessness as the singer witnesses the relationship slowly crumbling away. The heaviness in their heart and their sinking into a "bad dream" suggests a feeling of being overwhelmed by the pain and inevitability of the situation.
The chorus, "Cause I'm gone," is repeated throughout the song, emphasizing the singer's feeling of detachment and separation from the relationship. They seem resigned to the fact that the relationship has reached its end, and it's best for the other person to forget about them. The lyrics also explore the fear of waking up alone or dreaming in silence, emphasizing the loneliness and longing that comes with losing someone.
The plea to "Stay, don't leave me in this state of steady pain" shows the singer's desperation to hold on, even though they know it's futile. They admit to always getting caught up in the turmoil and being dragged down further, suggesting a pattern of emotional struggle within relationships. The song takes listeners on an emotional journey, capturing the sadness and longing of a relationship on the verge of collapse.

This is the most "As It Is" feeling song on the album, and it's so fucking good. Whole album flows so well together, too.

I never listened to As It Is but I chose to listen to this because it wasn't a music video because I'm very picky when it comes to new songs with the way the band looks(I hate it but it's just how I am). I instantly loved the way the drums just pop and are heavy and... I just love it. I literally paused a moment into the song to say that. :D something tells me I should probably look into the rest of the album.
