Is hariyaali dharti ka man
Kya chhut gaya kya tut gaya
Kyun laga pyar ko chand garhan
Kyun khoon baha kyun laal hua
Is hariyaali dharti ka man
Kya chhut gaya kya tut gaya
Kyun laga pyar ko chand garhan
Chand garhan, chand garhan
Hari om, hari om
Hari om, hari om
Hum inshaa tum bhi inshaan
Kya baat kyun door huye
Isne ye aag lagayi jo
Hum milne ko majboor huye
Tum kha lo ye hai kashmir ka gul
Kyun soona hai mahka gulshan
Kya chhut gaya kya tut gaya
Kyun laga pyar ko chand garhan
Chand garhan, chand garhan
Chand garhan, chand garhan
Wo sare apne bichhad gaye
Is dil me saath jiye the jo
Ab dil ke kaune kaune me
Chunte hain beeti yaado ko
Is bheege bheege mausam me
Jalti hai ek khamosh agan
Kya chhut gaya kya tut gaya
Kyun laga pyar ko chand garhan
Chand garhan, chand garhan
Chand garhan, chand garhan
Is wade me ek wade ka
Ahsaas suhana tha jitna
Is wade me ek wade ka
Ahsaas suhana tha jitna
Rishto ke dhage tute pe
Ye dil rota hai ab kitna
Besaai in sannato ke
De jaate hain bas ek chubhan
Kya chhut gaya kya tut gaya
Kyun laga pyar ko chand garhan
Chand garhan, chand garhan
Chand garhan, chand garhan
Jo apna tha jo sapna tha
Kyun aas tod ke chalaa gaya
Jiske dam se ye saanse thi
Kyun sath chhod ke chalaa gaya
Dhalta suraj kal aayega
Umeedo ki ek nai kiran
Kya chhut gaya kya tut gaya
Kyun laga pyar ko chand garhan
Kyun khoon baha kyun laal hua
Is hariyaali dharti ka man
Kya chhut gaya kya tut gaya
Kyun laga pyar ko chand garhan
The song "Chand Grahan" by Asha Bhosle is a soulful ballad about separation and the pain of lost love. The lyrics seem to express confusion and a search for answers in the face of heartbreak. The opening lines question why blood has been shed and the earth has turned red, suggesting a metaphor for the emotional turmoil the singer is feeling. She asks what has been lost or broken and why the moon has eclipsed love.
The second verse speaks to the separation of two people who were once close. The singer is perplexed as to why they are now distant and why they cannot be together. She offers the image of a Kashmiri rose, a symbol of beauty and fragility, to represent their lost connection. The third verse continues the theme of loss and separation, offering an image of memories scattered like threads through a heart broken into pieces. The singer is longing for the warmth of the past, as represented by the fire burning in a rainy season.
The final verse speaks to the challenge of moving on from a broken relationship. The singer asks why someone she loved has left her and taken with him the very air she breathes. But she finds hope in the promise of a new dawn, symbolized by the coming of a new day's sun. Overall, the lyrics conjure a sense of longing, confusion, and heartbreak that is both palpable and poignant.
