Asleep at the Wheel Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
But the fire is so delightful
And since we've no place to go
Let it snow! Let it snow! Let it snow!
It doesn't show signs of stopping
And I've bought some corn for popping
The lights are turned way down low
When we finally kiss goodnight
How I'll hate going out in the storm!
But if you'll really hold me tight
All the way home I'll be warm
The fire is slowly dying
And, my dear, we're still goodbying
But as long as you love me so
Let it snow! Let it snow! Let it snow!
The lyrics to "Let It Snow, Let It Snow, Let It Snow" represent a cozy winter scene, with the singer and their loved one huddled together in their warm home as the snow falls outside. Despite the cold, snowy weather, they find comfort in their company and the warmth of the fire. The chorus repeats the sentiment to "let it snow" as they have nowhere to go and are content to stay indoors.
The song also includes a sense of anticipation - with the singer noting that the snow isn't showing any signs of stopping and they've bought corn for popping, indicating a night of snacking and cozying up by the fire. Their concern for having to venture out into the storm eventually turns into excitement at the prospect of being held tight by their loved one on the way home.
Overall, the lyrics convey a romanticized version of winter - one that is warm and inviting despite the cold weather outside. It represents the feeling of contentment when in the company of someone you love during a season that can often be isolating.
