Broken Glass
Astra Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Seasons change into past
And leave me be
I'll wait till the morning has gone away
And turned into dawn
She has come, gone away
Turns back time, other days
She takes back the autumn that's turned to grey
And whispers in the rain
Wait for the day when we went on the run
Wait for the day when they took away the sun
Broken glass made to last
Cuts my skin, heals so fast
The song Broken Glass by Astra speaks about the individual's emotions and feelings after a particular situation. The first verse, "Broken leaves turn into grass / Seasons change into past," signifies that the individual is living in the present, but he is still holding onto something from the past. He is trying to move on, but the past is holding him back.
The following lines, "Leave me be / I'll wait till the morning has gone away / And turned into dawn," show that he is waiting for a change, waiting for the sun to rise, waiting for a new beginning. The second verse talks about a particular person who has come and gone away, but whenever she screams, she reminds him of the past, and he goes back in time.
The lines, "She takes back the autumn that's turned to grey / And whispers in the rain," suggest that this person has the power to bring back the memories of the past, which are long forgotten. In the chorus, the individual talks about waiting for the day to come back, the day when they were free, and the sun shone bright. The last line, "Broken glass made to last / Cuts my skin, heals so fast," suggests that the person is trying to move on, but the hurt is still there, and it will take time for him to heal.
