Heaven
At Vance Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Too many questions runnin' through your head
Speaking a language I don't understand
Blame me as always with that look in your eye
The sound of your silence asking me why

How many times must I try to tell you
For every tear that you cry my heart dies
There's no return for me

Heaven is somewhere beyond
A place you don't know, so far from here
Heaven is somebody else, no I can't pretend
Take my word, you're not the one

Now you're begging me to cure you from the pain
But the fats remain the same
The years that we had that you treasure in your heart
Was just a mistake from the start

Too many times must I try to tell you
For every tear that you cry my heart died
There's no return for me

Heaven is somewhere beyond
A place you don't know, so far from here
Heaven is somebody else, no I can't pretend
Take my word, you're not the one

Cause all that I need is to find some peace of mind
Oh can't you forgive and try

Heaven is somewhere beyond
A place you don't know, so far from here

Heaven is somebody else, no I can't pretend
Take my word, you're not the one

Overall Meaning

The song "Heaven" by At Vance is about a failed relationship, in which one person feels like they have given everything they could to the other person but it was not enough. The lyrics suggest that there are too many questions in the person's head and they are speaking a language that the other person does not understand. The blame is placed on the singer as the other person looks at them with a piercing look in their eyes. The sound of silence is then described as asking "why".

The singer then tries to explain to the other person that for every tear they cry, their heart dies. The relationship is beyond repair and there is no return for them. The chorus then repeats that heaven is somewhere beyond, a place that the other person does not know and is far from here. Heaven is somebody else and the singer cannot pretend that the other person is the one. The other person then begs the singer to cure them from the pain, but the facts remain the same. The years that they had together were just a mistake from the start.

The singer then asks the other person to forgive and try, as all they need is to find some peace of mind. However, it is clear that for the singer heaven is not with this person. The song ends with the idea that the other person is not the one they are looking for.
