While ARS would never reach the commercial success of Lynyrd Skynyrd or the Marshall Tucker Band, the group had a strong following in the south and charted a number of hits such as "Imaginary Lover," "I'm Not Going to Let it Bother Me Tonight," "Champagne Jam," "So Into You," and a remake of a Classics IV hit, "Spooky."
The band also influenced a number of rock and country artists, notably Travis Tritt, who recorded a cover of the ARS songs, "Back Up Against the Wall" and "Homesick." The group Shudder to Think covered "So Into You."

While a plane flies overhead
Visions of my hometown running through my head
I remember wanting to leave it so bad
Went searching for something I already had
Last night I looked in the mirror and this is what I said
I'm going back
One of these days someday soon
I'm going back home
I get a tear in my eye and a lump in my throat
Every time I hear that train
Moaning in the distance it seems to call my name
Someday soon I'll catch the next plane out,
My mind's made up beyond a shadow of a doubt
I'm gonna do it, I'm gonna break these chains
I'm going back (they say you can never go back)
I'm going back (oh no, you can never go back)
One of these days someday soon
I'm going back home
There are millions of people in far off places
Homesick written across their faces
They're looking for something that's real
That's the way I feel
I miss that hometown feeling
I miss the simple joys
I miss the emphasis of simplicity
And the lack of noise
I'm going back (they say you can never go back)
I'm going back (oh no, you can never go back)
One of these days someday soon
I'm going back home
The song βIβm Going Backβ by the Atlanta Rhythm Section is a reflective tune about the singerβs longing for his hometown. The lyrics describe him standing and listening to a train in the distance, while a plane flies overhead. He has visions running through his head of his hometown, and remembers how badly he wanted to leave it. However, he realizes that he was actually searching for something he already had. He looks in the mirror and decides that he wants to go back home someday soon.
The singer gets emotional every time he hears the train moaning in the distance, as it seems to call his name. He is determined to catch the next plane out and break free of the chains that held him back. The lyrics suggest that the nostalgia for home is not uncommon, as there are millions of people in far-off places who are homesick and looking for something real. The singer misses the feeling of his hometown, the simple joys, and the emphasis of simplicity that he can only find there.
Overall, the song is a reminder of the importance of home and the sense of belonging that comes with it. The singer realizes that despite his excitement and eagerness to leave, there is no place like home, and someday soon, he will return.

@ trans am lvr:
This album came out in 1976 And I was only about 5 years old And I remember hearing stuff on the radio that just was incredibly mood changing Sigh was basically in my single digits I was an adolescent in the 1970s and I remember it very well
And as dreary as the 1970s could actually be given Vietnam Inflation I don't know why But I miss it.
I was much older from my age I was never my age I was probly always to 3 years ahead definitely 2 years And I remember all this music I remember listening to it into the late seventies into the eighties and I remember it when I was very young I remember it at 5 years old.
And I picked up on the tone of the music it's it's hard not to And I knew what I liked haha A music like this only added more to the you know eventual banks of what you wanted
But like you said you wish you can go back to the seventies and I was like I said I was not a teenager so I didn't enjoy things away a lot of the older kids that I admired did and I always hung out with older kids
But when someone like you says yes I wish I can go back to the 1970s the simple fact this year I agree with you And is shifty and dreary as things could be back then I miss it And that's not to say that everything we should I and dreary a time there was a lot of fun
Big stadium concerts by the great rock groups the radio was filled with great music
Girls walked around with tight shorts on with their asses hanging out The close was their clothes were skin tight
I don't know if I would want to relive the 1970s completely maybe I don't know maybe because I was in a teenager I don't II feel that way as much as I would like to relive the seventies
But I definitely miss it and groups like this only add to that mood. The other weird thing that made the 1970s just so wow and so attractive is that it was nostalgia.
The 1915 the statue was there the 1970s was nothing more than just a carry over from the sixties
Is much is Vietnam was on but World War II with stolen our heads Korea didn't get much attention but Korea was still in our heads And we even had the 1940s 1930s and maybe even just a little bit of the 20th still in the 1970s that was influencing us
I think I probably would go back to the 1970s. The clothing was a lot of fun Yeah a lot of the cars were ogli certain ones but there was something about the big cars back then that we had
The seventies definitely was a special time
