Augustines Lyrics

No angels sing, your love died
For me
Come on now cruel city, with mourning eyes
Come on now cruel city, don't turn away
Come on now cruel city, with mourning eyes
Come on now cruel city, yeah
Oh oh oh oh oh oh
On and on, and we say:
Oh oh oh oh oh oh
On and on and we say:
Who, who's gonna miss me? Who?
Wide awake, and wide my arms
The rain strips feel colder tonight
Come on now cruel city, with mourning eyes
Come on now cruel city, don't turn away
Come on now cruel city, with mourning eyes
Come on now cruel city, hey
Come on now cruel city, yeah
Oh oh oh oh oh oh
On and on, and we say:
Oh oh oh oh oh oh
On and on, and we say:
Oh oh oh oh oh oh
On and on, and we say:
Oh oh oh oh oh oh
Hey, I love your arms; I still reach for you in the dark
Hey, I miss your skin; I still reach for you in the dark
Hey, don't hide your eyes; I still reach for you in the dark
Hey, I miss your skin.
Oh, oh, oh
Who, who's gonna miss me? Who?
Impossible love
Who, gonna miss me, who
Consider
These lyrics describe a love that has ended, leaving the singer feeling lost and alone in the midst of a cold and uncaring city. The imagery of mourning eyes and the rain making everything feel colder adds to the sense of isolation and despair. The repetition of the line "Come on now cruel city" seems to be a plea for some kind of comfort or connection, even though the city itself cannot provide it.
The chorus of "On and on and we say" is interesting in that it suggests a collective voice, as if the singer is not the only one experiencing this pain and longing. The questions of "Who's gonna miss me?" and "Who's gonna miss you?" further emphasize this theme of loneliness in a big city, where it can be easy to feel invisible and forgotten.

The taxi driver in the video introduced my mother and I to this song on a taxi ride home. He is so proud of his son. We love this song.

So for some reason, this video was "blocked in my country" for some reason for so long. I only just now thought to look for it again and I'm so happy to see it's back up. This song was my introduction to Augustines and this video was the first time I ever saw what they looked like. This video means a lot as Augustines is one of my favorite bands now. Love you guys and I miss you.

I've loved music videos ever since MTV was a legit way to find and watch them. I think it's magical when a video can match a song's beauty and intensity. I think y'all nailed it with this one. Great job, you guys.

Bob, the nicest taxi driver in the world! Just been in his cab home fand perfect end to an evening out. talented son Rob = product of lovely dad! Thank you!
@A1leejack
Thanks Dom. I talked to Rob a little at their show in Milwaukee, WI a few years back, right after he joined the band & they were opening for the Boxer Rebellion. Definitely wasn't too crowded, especially when they played. Don't think they will have this problem moving forward. Seemed like a great guy- Definitely got Dad's smile
