"Through struggle we prevail. Through Struggle we unite. You are not alone. This is our Pre-Inspired Symphony..." is something that the members of Aurin know all too well. "We all have a need to connect to one another in some way, shape, or form, even if it's simply to be acknowledged by someone else who can reassure us that we are not alone. We strive to be remembered," says guitarist Andrew Wayne. This concept of finding one another through mutual experience and thought is heavily driven into the musicianship and songwriting of Aurin.
Born and raised in the Garden State, the members of Aurin not only live, but breathe music. Growing up as part of generation "why?," music was the one thing that its members ever truly understood. Music provided answers. Over years of writing and working, Aurin's musical direction has molded into an eclectic style of hard rock. Aurin has developed an approach so that they may continue, progress, and modernize the nature of raw, emotional music from generations past.

The misery is all I see
I feel guilty for all this pain
The cross that bears my name
I feel guilty for all this pain
Starved by sorrow
I need you (need you)
Alleviate my pain
Hold my head up for heaven's sake
I need to be wakened
Bring me up and comfort me
The misery is all I see
Feigning to be ok
With desire to sleep and isolate
I feel guilty for all this shame
The cross that bears my name
I feel guilty for all this shame
No hope for tomorrow
Serotonin running through my brain
I need you (need you)
Alleviate my pain
Hold my head up for heaven's sake
I need to be wakened
Bring me up and comfort me
The misery is all I see
I'll burn it down and shut it out
Yearning for normality
I'll burn it down and shut it out
Fighting for vitality
Serotonin running through my brain
I need you (need you)
Alleviate my pain
Hold my head up for heaven's sake
I need to be wakened
The song "Serotonin" by Aurin is an emotional depiction of the artist's struggles with depression and the pain that comes along with it. The lyrics begin with a plea for comfort and a desire to be lifted out of the misery the artist is feeling. Despite the desire to feel better, the artist feels guilty for the pain they are experiencing and the burden it places on others. The line "The cross that bears my name" suggests that this pain is something the artist feels is their own personal burden to carry.
The chorus of the song repeats the need for serotonin, a chemical in the brain that is associated with happiness and positivity. The artist is desperately seeking this chemical to alleviate the pain they are feeling and to be awakened from their current state of despair. The line "Hold my head up for heaven's sake" suggests that the artist feels as though they are drowning and needs someone to pull them out and give them hope.
The second verse delves deeper into the shame and hopelessness the artist is feeling. Despite trying to appear "ok," the artist is struggling to fight off the desire to isolate themselves and sleep away their pain. The line "No hope for tomorrow" is a powerful statement of the artist's belief that things will never get better.
Overall, the lyrics to "Serotonin" are a poignant expression of the struggles of depression and the desire for hope and positivity. The artist's plea for comfort and the need for serotonin highlights the importance of seeking help and support during difficult times.
