Battlefield
Avenger Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Another town will fall tonight
On the banner crime and sin
They'll rape the virgins off their skin
Battlefield
Death and glory side by side
Battlefield
All they built up was in vain
Ruins remember former times
Smoke and fire all around
Burning bodies on the ground
Battlefield
Death and glory side by side
Battlefield
Could you say who's wrong or right
There is still a rest of men
Just revenge is on their minds
But if they try to fight back
The tyrant rapes them of their heads
Battlefield
Death and glory side by side
Battlefield
Could you say who's wrong or right
The lyrics to Avenger's song Battlefield depict the horrors of war, with a particular emphasis on the innocent victims caught in the crossfire. The first verse sets the scene of impending attack, describing the banners boasting of crime and sin that will lead to the brutal rape of women. The chorus, with its use of repetition, presents the idea of the battlefield as a place where death and glory stand side by side, while questioning the morality of the conflict by asking who is truly in the wrong or right.
The second verse laments the destruction wrought by the battle, with ruins silently bearing witness to the former times that now lie in waste. The descriptive language of smoke and fire, along with the graphic image of burning bodies, paints a vivid picture of the devastation that war causes. The final verse portrays a glimmer of hope, as a group of men vow to seek revenge for the atrocities committed against them. However, the presence of the tyrant's brutal retaliation leaves the reader wondering if there can ever truly be justice in the aftermath of war.
Overall, Avenger's Battlefield is a powerful commentary on the destruction and senseless violence that war brings. It poses important questions about morality, justice, and who truly bears the responsibility for the atrocities committed.
