Avrigus first came into existence in 1990. Due to Simon's role in Cruciform and the Sydney metal scene it wasn't until 1998 that the very well received EP The Final Wish was released on Warhead Records. In 2001 the album The Secret Kingdom was released on Well of Urd Records, a division of the now-defunct Hammerheart Records.
In 2007 it was announced that Judy had left the band late in the previous year. Despite this Simon is continuing on with Avrigus and a new album called "The Hidden Citadel" is in the works. It was announced in August 2009 that Avrigus' new vocalist would be Megan Robins, whose partner Lee Tassaker (bassist/vocalist for Lycanthia) would also be providing vocals on the new album.
The Final Wish and The Secret Kingdom can be downloaded from their official site via BitTorrent.
3rd Of May 2010, the band announced that they will be releasing an EP called "Beauty And Pain" as a precursor to the album "The Hidden Citadel". "Beauty And Pain" will consist of 5 tracks with a running time of approximately 30 minutes.

Avrigus Lyrics

All sense dies in the life of a slave
Nonsense thrives, they cannot save themselves
From the death wish
At the point of no return
Where flawless, frozen images burn
Their tourtured souls still weep and yearn for release
For everlasting peace
Hell awaits thee in Heaven too late
Locked out of time at the pearly gate
With naught but a sliver of a twist of fate
Thy fractured heart
And the death wish
Past the point of no return
Where flawless, forzen images burn
Their tortued souls still weep and yearn for release
Form the beast
For everlsating peace
And the key
And the key to paradise
The lyrics to Avrigus's song "Qliphoth" portray a state of despair, hopelessness, and a sense of impending doom. The opening lines "Take thy pick and dig thy grave, all sense dies in the life of a slave," suggest that one's choices have led them down a path of destruction and servitude. The following line "nonsense thrives, they cannot save themselves from the death wish" indicates that the situation is so dire that even attempting to make sense of it is futile.
The chorus, "at the point of no return, where flawless, frozen images burn, their tortured souls still weep and yearn for release from the beast, for everlasting peace," depicts a state of being trapped, unable to escape the pain and suffering that has taken hold. The lines "hell awaits thee in heaven too late, locked out of time at the pearly gate" suggest that there is no redemption in sight, and that no amount of repentance will save the soul from its inevitable fate. The final lines "and the key to paradise" leave a glimmer of hope, but it is uncertain whether the key will be found before the inevitable descent into darkness.
Overall, the lyrics of "Qliphoth" paint a picture of a soul trapped in a hellish existence, unable to break free from the cycle of pain and suffering. The notion of being locked out of heaven suggests a finality that is both haunting and unsettling.
