Let The Good Times Roll
BB King Friends Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Hey, everybody, let's have some fun
You only live but once
And when you're dead you're done

So let the good times roll
Let the good times roll
I don't care if you're young or old
Get together, let the good times roll

Don't sit there mumblin', talkin' trash
If you wanna have some fun
You gotta spend some cash

So let the good times roll
Let the good times roll
I don't care if you're young or old
Go out and get together, let the good times roll

Don't sit there mumblin', talkin' trash
If you wanna have a ball
You better spend some cash

So let the good times roll
Let the good times roll
Yeah, I don't care if you're young or old
Go out and get together, let the good times roll

Hey Mister Landlord, lock up all the doors
When the police comes around
Just tell them that the joint is closed

And let the good times roll
Let the good times roll
I don't care if you're young or old
Get up and get together and let the good times roll

Hey everybody, tell everybody
That B.B. and Bob is in town
I got a dollar and a quarter
And I'm just rarin' theclown
But don't let nobody play me cheap
I got fifty cents more that I'm gonna keep

I don't care if you're young or old
Let's get together and let the good times roll

Let them roll, let them roll
Let them roll, let them roll, let them roll, baby
Let them roll all night long, let them roll all night long, let them roll all night long
Let them roll all night long
Let them roll, let them roll
Let them roll, let them roll all night long
Let them, can I hear it one more time, everybody
Let them roll, let them roll all night long
Let them roll all night long, let them roll all night long

Oh shit
Oh shit

Overall Meaning

In the song "Let The Good Times Roll," BB King and Bobby Bland urge people to forget their worries and enjoy the moment. The song is about having fun with friends and making the most of life, as it says in the opening lines, "Hey, everybody, let's have some fun / You only live but once / And when you're dead you're done." The lyrics encourage people to let loose and enjoy themselves regardless of their age, "I don't care if you're young or old / Get together, let the good times roll."

The song also talks about money and spending to have a good time, "Don't sit there mumblin', talkin' trash / If you wanna have some fun / You gotta spend some cash." Additionally, the song suggests breaking the rules to continue having a good time, "Hey Mister Landlord, lock up all the doors / When the police comes around / Just tell them that the joint is closed." I think sometimes we forget that BB had a voice that many vocalists would die for. And that guitar sings like no other

I'm 61 and if I could have played this song at my father's funeral who recently passed, I would have. This was his favorite song!

@papa62old

I am 66 yrs. of age and I have listened to BB King for most of those years and have always found his music to be the finest blues there is and ever was. When I was 16 and playing the Beatles and Stones he still was an influence in my style of playing. One has to love Mr. King.

@bakura306

Hope you're still vibing and feeling the blues 8 years later sir! And hope you are well.

@janetchavez4776

Me too. Love this man. Also James Brown and Ray Charles. So lucky to have been able to see them in person...back in the day.

I had the opportunity to see him live in my home town Torino (Italy) in July 1995. What a night!

@carmenruotolo3754
