Load off the gear, bring on the beer
Tired and worn out, but there's no doubt
We're gonna please you
Just like we always do
Full speed ahead, we're coming your way
X-rated rockers, no matter what you say
I'm sorry honey but we gotta move
Gotta move on
Gotta move on
Gotta move on
It's time to roll,
We gotta get out of here, on
Stockholm, Berlin, Rome,
Don't know where I've been
Don't know where I'm goin'
A million faces, the stage is mine
Hard rockin' B-bombs standing in the front line
We're getting high and so low
We're still rolling, rolling like a freak show
Reckless and vain, we'll rock it to the dawn
I'm sorry honey but we gotta move
Gotta move on
Gotta move on
Gotta move on
It's time to roll,
We gotta get out of here, on
Gotta move on
Gotta move on
Gotta move on
It's time to roll,
We gotta get out of here
The lyrics of Babylon Bombs' "Gotta Move On" convey the experiences and sentiments of a rock band constantly on the move, touring from one town to another. The opening lines "Another town, another place, Load off the gear, bring on the beer" paint a picture of the band arriving in a new location, unloading their equipment, and preparing to entertain their audience with their music while indulging in some refreshments. Despite feeling tired and worn out, there is a determination to give their best performance and please their fans, emphasizing their commitment to their craft.
As the song progresses, the rebellious and carefree nature of the band members is highlighted with the lines "Full speed ahead, we're coming your way, X-rated rockers, no matter what you say, Reckless and vain, we'll rock it to the dawn." These lyrics suggest a defiance of societal norms and a dedication to their rock 'n' roll lifestyle, unapologetically embracing their wild and unconventional personas. The repeated refrain of "Gotta move on, It's time to roll, We gotta get out of here" reflects their restless spirit and the transient nature of life on the road, always seeking the next adventure and performance.
The mention of different cities like Stockholm, Berlin, and Rome further reinforces the nomadic existence of the band, with the singer expressing a sense of disorientation about their whereabouts - "Don't know where I've been, Don't know where I'm goin'." Despite this uncertainty, when they take the stage, they are in their element, surrounded by a sea of faces, ready to deliver their hard-hitting rock music. The "Hard rockin' B-bombs standing in the front line" line captures the band's unapologetic confidence and commitment to their craft, serving as a call to arms for their loyal followers.
The song's high-energy and anthemic chorus, combined with its raw and unapologetic lyrics, culminate in a powerful declaration of independence and the band's refusal to be tied down. The repeated refrain of "Gotta move on, It's time to roll, We gotta get out of here" echoes a sense of urgency and a need for constant motion, embodying the rebellious and spirited essence of rock 'n' roll. Overall, "Gotta Move On" serves as a rallying cry for anyone feeling trapped or stagnant, encouraging them to break free from their constraints and embrace a life of freedom and adventure.
