Samson and Delilah
Bad Manners Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Every single day
I'm waiting by my phone
Since you've gone away
It's lonely sleeping on my own
Out of luck
We had a lover's rot
Like so many lover's had before
Had to smile
Just for a little while
When I saw you
Walking through the door
Just like
Romeo and Juliet
Samson and Delilah
(I'm on fire)
Romeo and Juliet
Samson and Delilah
(I'm on fire)

When I hear you say
(You say)
Our love is going wrong
Fills me with dismay
(Dismay)
Because we've been together for so long
Don't you know?
You didn't have to go
You thought I didn't love you anymore
But we were out of luck
We had a lover's rot
Just like a million others have before
Like:
Romeo and Juliet
Samson and Delilah
(I'm on fire)
Romeo and Juliet
Samson and Delilah
(I'm on fire)

What's it all about?
You say I'm out of line
In and out
And in and out
We had a really really really
Good time
I will change my ways
If you come back
To stay
(Dig it)
(Dig it)
Romeo and Juliet
Samson and Delilah
(I'm on fire)
Romeo and Juliet
Samson and Delilah
(I'm on fire)
Don't go away
Promise me you'll stay
Delilah
Delilah
Don't ever stop
Take me to the top
Delilah
Delilah
Look into my eyes
I want to hypnotize
Delilah
Delilah
Delilah
Delilah
You can't cut my hair
'Cause I haven't any there
I'm still in love
With you
Delilah

If you want to get an idea of what it was like to see these bands live back in the day then you should check out the Rockumentary "Dance Craze", it really shows all of the Ska bands at their liveliest best and gives you an insight into how amazing their live gigs were, theres never been gigs like them since... :-)

A truly fantastic track from 1982. Peaked as high as No. 58 on the UK Singles Charts.

I always thought it went a lot higher back in the day as me and my friends used to love it but sadly it didn't.

I have been trying to find this song for over twenty five years. Finally I can return to KROQ of the 82-83. Wish I could relive the summer of 82 or 83 one more time.

@MadFranko008

I can't believe I'm this old when I find out there was a video for this excellent song.
Living on the asshole side of the Atlantic has it's disadvantages.
I at least I had the chance to drink two pints with Buster in Baltimore MD.
