People moving to the moon
Stop baby don't go stop here
Never stop living here
Till it eats the heart from your soul
Keeps down the sound of your
Silent sigh
Silent sigh, silent sigh silent sigh
Could we love each other
Come see what we all talk about
People moving to the moon
Stop baby don't go stop here
Never stop living here
Till it eats the heart from your soul
Keeps down the sound of your
Silent sigh
Silent sigh, silent sigh silent sigh
Keeps down all move me down
But don't love each other
No don't love each other
Never gonna be the same
Badly Drawn Boy's Silent Sigh is a contemplative and poetic song about the human urge to constantly search for a deeper meaning and purpose in life. Through the lyrics, the singer invites the listener to question their life's direction and to reflect on what brings them true happiness. The lines "Come see what we all talk about, People moving to the moon" are an allegory for human's endless search for something more, even if it might seem impossible or absurd to others. The song is a reflection on the ultimate goal and the choices one makes to reach it. The lyrics imply that one should never stop living and pursuing their dreams, leaving behind the mundane aspects of life that can dim one's spirit and passion.
The repetition of the phrase "silent sigh" is symbolic of the frustration and disappointment that can arise when one fails to find true fulfillment in life. The song suggests that despite the daily struggles, one should keep on moving forward and never give up hope. The words "Till it eats the heart from your soul" give a sense of urgency to the singer's call to action, as if time is running out and one must seize the opportunity to make the most of life while they still have it.
