Yours and mine
And I bet he's proud of himself
The way he split his time
Telling all his friends
How good it feels to play both ends
I'm sure in all of their eyes
One of a kind, a pair of fools
Two women one man's been lying to
You thought you were the only one, I thought I was too
We're one of a kind, a pair of fools
Honey, we could talk this out
Like the best of friends
But we're not to blame for the pain
That, that man has put us in
When we break the news
That you know about me and I know about you
After what he's done
He better start to run from this
One of a kind, a pair of fools
Two women one man's been lying to
You thought you were the only one, I thought I was too
We're one of a kind, a pair of fools
When we break the news
That you know about me and I know about you
After what he's done
He better start to run from this
One of a kind, a pair of fools
Two women one man's been lying to
You thought you were the only one, I thought I was too
I guess we see now what blind love can do
We're one of a kind, a pair of fools
Two women one man's been lying to
You thought you were the only one
, I thought I was too
We're one of a kind, a pair of fools
Barbara Mandrell's "One Of A Kind Pair Of Fools" is a song about two women who have been betrayed by the same man. The lyrics delve into the emotions that both women experience and how it feels to realize that they were both involved with the same man. It's clear that the man in question has played both women against each other and has been successful in keeping his infidelity a secret. The first verse of the song suggests that the man in question has been able to have the best of both worlds, yours and mine. The performer goes on to illustrate how proud the man must be of himself as he was able to play both ends for his own benefit.
The two women in the song are aware of each other as they've fallen victim to the same man's lies. They're aware of how much pain they're both enduring and the fact that they can go through this experience together. The performer explains that they are "one of a kind" and "a pair of fools". They both thought they were the only one in this man's life, but they were wrong. This realization has led to their current status as "a pair of fools" as they were both fooled by the same man.
Overall, the song is a powerful illustration of the hurt that infidelity can cause. The lyrics are filled with emotion and are relatable for anyone who has been betrayed by a lover. The song is a reminder that love can lead us down paths we never imagined, and not all of them are pleasant.
