Last Goodbye
Basti Artadi Lyrics

While all the bad men
Sleep in their beds
And all of these questions
Rest through my head
How did i get here
How bad have i done
Oh god when will you save your son
No more emerald tress
No more burgundy skies
No more radian sunsets
Or welcoming smiles
I greet everyday with a tear in my eye
Can't wait to bed oh this
My last goodbye

And i'm not saying
I'm a very good man
But justice should be just
At least that's where i stand
And evidence lost forgotten in stain
And will anyone remember my name?

No more emerald tress
No more burgundy skies
No more radian sunsets
Or welcoming smiles
I greet everyday with a tear in my eye
Can't wait to bed oh this
My last goodbye

And what price my freedom
What price my soul
How do you sleep at night
Did you get your gold
And ignorance is blanket
And bliss is its bed
And nightmares you have about the truth of the live you lived

No more emerald tress
No more burgundy skies
No more radian sunsets
Or welcoming smiles
I greet everyday with a tear in my eye
Can't wait to bed oh this
My last goodbye

And let's bend the paper
As i ride and rob
Ill give up tomorrow
Cause its all i got
And id rather die
Than admit to something i didn't do
This can be happen to me, man
It can happen to you

No more emerald tress
No more burgundy skies
No more radian sunsets
Or welcoming smiles
I greet everyday with a tear in my eye

Can't wait to bed oh this
My last goodbye

Overall Meaning

The song "Last Goodbye" by Basti Artadi is a melancholic reflection on life, justice, and the inevitability of death. The singer of the song is someone who is in a state of despair, questioning his own actions and motives, and wondering how he got to this point in his life. He is grappling with the idea of justice and how it should be the same for all, regardless of their position in life. The lyrics touch upon the themes of regret, loss, and the futility of life's struggles, capturing the singer's sense of hopelessness.

The opening lines of the song set the tone for the mood of the song. The singer is troubled and cannot find peace, while the "bad men" sleep soundly. The use of the color green in the phrase "emerald trees" and the color red in "burgundy skies" adds to the atmosphere of the song, as if the singer is longing for something lost or unattainable. The chorus of the song repeats the lines, "No more emerald trees, no more burgundy skies, no more radiant sunsets, or welcoming smiles," emphasizing the feeling of loss and the inevitability of death.

The song suggests that life is fleeting, and even the pursuit of justice might not bring satisfaction or closure. The singer wonders if he will be remembered, and if his actions and struggles will be forgotten over time. The song concludes with an acknowledgment of death and the idea that it can happen to anyone.

WOLFGANG
Been in my veins since I'm 12 yrs old. The most lyrically beautiful songs made for the most darkest and most brightest of themes with one of the most golden of growling voices for the most loved band of the 90s. All superlatives. Really miss it. Old times hurt. Our generation's music is gone. Time devours everything.

@zoeyannesuperstar

One of my fave songs aside from Mata ng Diyos.... fan since college. ❤

Very true! Just goes to show that for us who grew up in the 90s have a better way of expressing ourselves with our raw emotions, truth in the way we feel and interact with people we share our lives with. Poetry and music, lyrcism and meaningsomething this generation should learn. Basti is an icon and an inspiration to us all! Sa mga ka generation ko WE ARE AWESOME!
