No More Lies
Battalion of Saints Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
They tell you nothing that's real
They keep us going
With their lies and stories
I just can't stand no more, no more lies
They want us stupid, And not asking for the truth
I just can't stand no more, no more lies
He's on the TV, talking to me
Trying to make me believe, I see through his disguise
In his lying eyes, they just can't tell the truth
(Chorus)
You think you're okay, Your life is going great
How come you lie to yourself? Your life is really shit
Who are you trying to impress, who cares about your lies?
The song "No More Lies" by Battalion of Saints is a commentary on the media's tendency to manipulate the public with falsehoods and half-truths. The opening lines suggest that the lies are easily made and disseminated, with the front page of newspapers being a prime example of this. The singer notes that these lies do not offer real information, but are simply part of a larger scheme to control and manipulate the public.
The chorus emphasizes the singer's frustration with the prevalence of lies and the fact that they are used to keep people "stupid" and prevent them from seeking out the truth. The second verse takes aim at a specific lying figure, perhaps a politician or media personality, who is attempting to deceive the public. However, the singer sees through this person's "disguise" and recognizes the dishonesty in their eyes.
The final lines of the song suggest that people often lie to themselves, perhaps to maintain a certain image or to convince themselves that their lives are better than they actually are. The singer questions why anyone would bother with such lies, as they ultimately don't impress anyone and only obscure the truth.
Overall, the song is a powerful condemnation of the use of lies and deception in media and in society in general. It urges people to seek out the truth and reject the lies that are used to manipulate them.
