She had her greatest success in the early 90s, and is best known for the hit "Promise Me" which hit Number 3 in the UK singles chart in 1991 and is taken from her self-titled debut album released in 1990. Craven achieved another five entries in the same chart over the next two years.
After first meeting backstage at a Tears for Fears concert, Craven married singer/songwriter Colin Campsie, and the couple now have three daughters. Campsie and Craven used to own the top & bottom flats in a three-storey house in London. When the person in the middle moved out, they bought the flat and converted the building back into one house. The family now live in Buckinghamshire.
She survived Breast cancer in 2005, and was given the all clear in February 2006.
Memories

She doesn't know we're listening
To her lullaby, so innocent and sweet
I've rocked her cradle 'til her tears were dry
And chased away a sleepless night
With a fairy-tale
Reliving the best years of my life
When I look into her eyes
Everything she's going through will be her memories
When she's older, and wiser
She's making her history
And everything we're going through will be our memories
I'm going make them worth remembering
For years...
I'm gonna tell her when she wants to know
But in the end she's on her own
No more fairy-tales
Just giving the best years of her life
As a mother or a wife
A woman with a child
Everything she's going through will be her memories
When she's older, and wiser
She's making her history
And everything we're going through will be our memories
I'm going make them worth remembering
For years...
Everything she's going through will be her memories
When she's older, and wiser
She's making her history
And everything we're going through will be our memories
I'm going make them worth remembering
For years...
The song "Memories" by Beverley Craven is a poignant reflection on the passage of time and the importance of creating meaningful memories. The lyrics focus on the theme of passing on knowledge and wisdom to the next generation, as the singer looks upon her younger sister with a mixture of nostalgia and trepidation. The opening lines describe the sister singing herself to sleep, oblivious to the fact that the singer is listening in. The singer remembers rocking the sister's cradle and chasing away sleepless nights with fairy tales, and realizes that she is reliving the best years of her life through her sister's innocence.
As the song progresses, the singer reflects on the inevitability of time passing and the need to make every moment count. She acknowledges that her sister will one day be on her own and will have to face the world with the memories she has created. The song is a touching tribute to the importance of love, family, and the connections we make with others over time. It is a reminder to cherish each moment and strive to create memories that will last a lifetime.
