Beyond The Sixth Seal Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
The lyrics of Beyond The Sixth Seal's song "Medusan" depict a journey of mental exhaustion and a search for a new path in someone else's world. The singer acknowledges that they had previously considered weakness, but are now open to new ideas. The lyrics also mention how there was a time when certain words were unspeakable, but now cowardice has taken over and the most worthless people are now in power. The song then explores how it all came to such a devastating end, where knife wounds have become a manner of speaking. The singer expresses a desire to know the wounds of the person they are addressing and to embrace their ashen remains.
The lyrics also talk about impaling hearts, but the heart of stone cannot be impaled. The person they are addressing is described as having a "Medusan" image, which was pure as the fallen snow at one point. However, this image has now been undone by bloodshed. The final lines of the song describe the person walking a path of burning statues without hesitation, without remorse.
Overall, "Medusan" portrays a sense of confusion and disillusionment with the world. The singer sees weakness in a new light and is open to different perspectives. They lament the current state of affairs and seek to understand the wounds of others. However, they also recognize the impossibility of impaling a heart of stone and the permanence of certain brutal acts.
