The band was originally formed in 1989 by leader Scott Morris. He and Kurt Sodergren are the two "original" members, with the rest of the band joining later on. The band concentrated on the swing of the 1940s and '50s, playing clubs and lounges in their early years.
The band launched two CDs, Big Bad Voodoo Daddy and Watchu' Want for Christmas? under their own label (Big Bad Records) before getting their big break when their songs "You & Me & The Bottle Makes Three Tonight (Baby)" and "Go Daddy-O" were featured in the 1996 comedy Swingers.
From there they were signed by Capitol Records. With Capitol the band released Americana Deluxe (also known as a second Big Bad Voodoo Daddy) and This Beautiful Life. The band has continued their tours, performances and album releases Save My Soul, Live, and Everything You Want For Christmas, with one high point being their appearance at the 1999 Super Bowl half-time show.
Over the last few years, Big Bad Voodoo Daddy has experienced great success playing on the Pops programs of American Symphony Orchestras and regular US tours.
Most recently, BBVD released a tribute album titled How Big Can You Get?: The Music of Cab Calloway. As part of the live concerts promoting this recent album, the band continues to perform new material, including the track "5-10-15 Times I Love You" which frontman Scotty Morris says will be recorded as part of a new album in early 2011.

Spooky Madness

You better run you better plead you better go and hide
Ghostly creatures fill the air with spirits passed away
Watch out now there coming back to liven up your day
Here they come to chase you out of town
Reapers waking up and getting down
Spooky madness
Spooky madness
Scary thoughts are racing all across your little mind
Other supernatural fears you never thought you'd find
Your nightmare come to life and is planning to stay awhile
You better grin you better bear you better crack a smile
All the dead are flying on the wind
I think it's time for you to be afraid
Don't you think
Don't you think
Don't you think
It's time for you to
Be afraid
Be afraid
Spooky madness
Spooky madness
Haunted nightmares are coming to greet you
Flying nightmares are coming to dying to meet you
So you think they passed away and never could return
Listen closely and look around there is something you must learn
One thing that's guaranteed is that the dead will never die
You will find them floating around, and shooting across the sky
Don't you cry it's not to quiet one day that might be you flying
But for now I'd grab a shoe and come back with that ghost to you
Boo!

The lyrics to "Spooky Madness" by Big Bad Voodoo Daddy paint a picture of a horrific fiesta with supernatural beings, ghosts, and spooks. It starts with the ominous phrase, "Someone turned the key and opened up the other side." The key that is mentioned could symbolize a portal to the afterlife or the unknown, unlocking a gateway for the dead to return to the world of the living. The next lines, "You better run, you better plead, you better go and hide," imply that the singer is warning the listener about the impending horror that will take place soon.
As the lyrics progress, the song asks the listener to pay attention to the fear and terror that surrounds them. The alliterated phrase, "Ghostly creatures fill the air with spirits passed away," describes the arrival of spirits into the world of the living, coming back to "liven up your day." A dance party is alluded to when it is said that "Here they come to chase you out of town," and "Reapers waking up and getting down."
Furthermore, the lyrics to "Spooky Madness" advise the listener to embrace the fear and accept it as a part of their reality. "You better grin, you better bear, you better crack a smile," is Big Bad Voodoo Daddy's warning to grin and bear it because there's no use in trying to run from the terror that accompanies this party. Ultimately, the singer reminds us that we will all be joining the dead one day, and to not be too scared because, "For now, I'd grab a shoe and come back with that ghost to you."

I agree. And I'm upset that it's not a buyable single on iTunes. It should most definitely be put on a Now That's What I Call Halloween compilation album.
