The band was originally formed in 1989 by leader Scott Morris. He and Kurt Sodergren are the two "original" members, with the rest of the band joining later on. The band concentrated on the swing of the 1940s and '50s, playing clubs and lounges in their early years.
The band launched two CDs, Big Bad Voodoo Daddy and Watchu' Want for Christmas? under their own label (Big Bad Records) before getting their big break when their songs "You & Me & The Bottle Makes Three Tonight (Baby)" and "Go Daddy-O" were featured in the 1996 comedy Swingers.
From there they were signed by Capitol Records. With Capitol the band released Americana Deluxe (also known as a second Big Bad Voodoo Daddy) and This Beautiful Life. The band has continued their tours, performances and album releases Save My Soul, Live, and Everything You Want For Christmas, with one high point being their appearance at the 1999 Super Bowl half-time show.
Over the last few years, Big Bad Voodoo Daddy has experienced great success playing on the Pops programs of American Symphony Orchestras and regular US tours.
Most recently, BBVD released a tribute album titled How Big Can You Get?: The Music of Cab Calloway. As part of the live concerts promoting this recent album, the band continues to perform new material, including the track "5-10-15 Times I Love You" which frontman Scotty Morris says will be recorded as part of a new album in early 2011.

Who's that creepin' through my door
You see, I know lots and lots of folks around these parts now
But I ain't never seen you before
I hear you creepin' through my kitchen
I hear you creepin' through my den
I'm starting to get the shakes now, Jack
I'm sweatin', and shakin', goin' out of my head
I'm observing from my position underneath my bed
I'm swearin' and pleadin' to leave me be
If you leave Mr., and set me free I said
Who's that creepin' through my bedroom?
Who's that creepin' through my hall?
If you leave right now and let me alone
I promise you I won't pick up that telephone no, no
I'm sweatin', and shakin', goin' out of my head
I'm observing from my position underneath my bed
I'm swearin' and pleadin' to leave me be
If you leave Mr., and set me free I said
Who's that creepin' through my window
Who's that creepin' through my door
You see, I know lots and lots of folks around these parts now
But I ain't never seen you before
I said who's that creepin' (who's that creepin')
Who's that creepin'(who's that creepin')
Who's that creepin'(who's that creepin')
Who's that creepin'(who's that creepin')
Who's that creepin'(who's that creepin')
Who's that creepin'(who's that creepin')
Who's that creepin'(who's that creepin')
Who's that creepin' through my front door?
The lyrics to "Who" by Big Bad Voodoo Daddy describe the singer's fear and suspicion of an intruder who has entered their home. The singer doesn't recognize the intruder and is becoming increasingly frightened as they hear them moving throughout their house. The singer is hiding underneath a bed and is begging the intruder to leave them alone and set them free. The repetition of the question "who's that creepin'" serves to intensify the paranoia and fear of the situation.
One possible interpretation of the song is that it addresses a fear of the unknown and a fear of the other. The intruder represents an outsider who is unfamiliar and potentially threatening, and the singer's fear is rooted in their inability to identify or understand this person. The repetition of the question "who's that creepin'" could be seen as a manifestation of the singer's anxiety about this unknown figure and their desire to unmask them.
Another interpretation could be that the song explores themes of powerlessness and vulnerability. The singer is hiding and begging for the intruder to leave them alone, suggesting that they feel powerless in the face of this threat. The use of physical symptoms like sweating and shaking further emphasizes the singer's intense fear and vulnerability.

Lyrics, enjoy! :
Now if you've seen my baby
My baby is oh so fine
She's long and lean
And never mean
She tastes like cherry wine
And she's my baby (She drives me crazy)
Now a love like mine
Should never be denied
I want to hug and kiss her
Lord I really miss her all the time
All the time
Now I said
Why, why, why, why, why? (Why me?)
Why, Why, Why me? (Why me?)
Why, why, why, why, why?
Why'd she have to run away from me?
It's a mystery why
I love her more today than
I loved her yesterday when
I thought that she'd come back to me
Why me?
Now if you've seen my baby
Tell her this for me
I'm so sad and lonely
Down as I can be
And she's my baby (She drives me crazy)
Now a love like mine
Should never be denied
I want to hug and kiss her
Lord I really miss her all the time
All the time
Now I say
Why, why, why, why, why? (Why me?)
Why, Why, Why me? (Why me?)
Why, why, why, why, why?
Why'd she have to run away from me?
It's a mystery why
I love her more today than
I loved her yesterday when
I thought that she'd come back to me
Why me? (groaning voice) why me?
And I say
Why, why, why, why, why? (Why me?)
Why, Why, Why me? (Why me?)
Why, why, why, why, why?
Why'd she have to run away from me?
It's a mystery why
I love her more today than
I loved her yesterday when
I thought that she'd come back to me
Why me?
Now I say
Why, why, why, why, why? (Why me?)
Why, Why, Why me? (Why me?)
Why, why, why, why, why?
Why'd she have to run away from me?
It's a mystery why
I love her more today than
