Kenneth Doniell Moore was born in Houston, Texas on August 20, 1974, and he grew up in southeast Houston. He graduated from Yates High School in 1992 and he was a former high school football star.
As one of the founding members of the "Original Screwed Up Click," Big Moe started out in music by freestyling on DJ Screw mixtapes before being signed to Wreckshop Records. Wreckshop Records released Big Moe's debut album, City of Syrup in (2000); the title a nod to Houston's reputation for drinking codeine-laced syrup, which Moe pours from a Styrofoam cup on the album's cover. "City of Syrup" album featured the single, "Mann!", which Moe intended to be The South Side's answer to Black Rob's East Coast hit "Whoa!". A year and half later, Moe returned with his second album, Purple World in (2002). This release showcased a Who's Who of Houston vocalists and two versions of Moe's breakthrough single, "Purple Stuff." The Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory-themed video for "Purple Stuff" was played on MTV and the album ranked as high as No. 3 on Billboard's Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart. Big Moe's third and last album, Moe Life, was issued in 2003, including the commercially successful single "Just a Dog." A posthumous album entitled Unfinished Business was released on March 18, 2008 via Wreckshop Records and Koch Records. In 2009 his album City Of Syrup was named number 25 on houstonpress.com's list of the 25 Best Houston Hip Hop Albums.
Moe died on October 14, 2007 at 33 years old, after suffering a heart attack one week earlier that left him in a coma.

You got the melody but your bars is whack
This aint an attack boy it's the truth
Lil kid lining up on the candy booth
In life the truth is always bittersweet
It taste good but it's bad for your teeth
Wanna learn a lesson then take a seat
You got to stand up even if your beat
Down, splattered on the ground
Work hard do good and get the crown
Like me, i grind to get the money
But not for me but for my family
You got to pay respect to the pioneers of the game
Raise it up like it's your name
213, biggie and my idol Pac
Thanks for the light you gave in my path
It's a new generation
Trying to bring back the old school that my mission
Revelation to the nation
That the old game needs appreciation
It's a new generation
New playas in the game have no passion
Only have the melody but no devotion
To play this game with true intentions
I carved my path with my own hands
Raised up my crew like they my own
Started from scratch and that's legit
Been grinding daily cause I want to make it
To the top, aint never going to stop
Feed the pack, that's what I'm a finally do
If you aint been following me you don't have a clue
What I've been through
I lost my motivation but still i found it
Negative comments yeah i fucked it
I aint going to listen to them haters
I plucked them off just like a feather
Cruisin through LAC baby baby
Gang sign represent WGK
If you down then come cruise with me
If you a hater then all eyes on me
It's a new generation
Trying to bring back the old school that my mission
Revelation to the nation
That the old game needs appreciation
It's a new generation
New playas in the game have no passion
Only have the melody but no devotion
To play this game with true intentions
Now, if you listened well
I keep it true there's no fake shit that I tell
I dropped my own money on the wishing well
Invested on myself so I'll never sell
Bow, to the true playas of the game
The ones started from the bottom and made a name
For themselves, and still stayed the same
Not the ones who changed when the money came
Motherfuckers switched sides then turned they eye
When you thought they was your ride or die
Look me in the eye and tell me what you see
Bust a cap on yow ass but do it lyrically
Listen the beat go boom boom bap
Sharpened up my tongue now listen to me rap
I'm the director in my own movie
I'm the one who says it's a wrap
It's a new generation
Trying to bring back the old school that my mission
Revelation to the nation
That the old game needs appreciation
It's a new generation
New playas in the game have no passion
Only have the melody but no devotion
To play this game with true intentions
Got to learn to stand on your own boy
Got to learn to trust yourself
Fuck what they say
You do you and that's good
Stay true to the ones true to you
Leave all the negativity behind
Just stay on the grind
Facts boy facts
The lyrics to Big Moe's song "Bring It On" convey a message of staying true to oneself and being dedicated to achieving success in the music industry. The opening lines express the artist's honesty in pointing out that someone may have a catchy melody but weak lyrics. It's not intended as an attack but rather a truth that needs to be acknowledged. The metaphor of a child lining up at a candy booth represents the naivety and lack of substance in the new generation of artists.
The chorus emphasizes the importance of acknowledging and respecting the pioneers of the game, such as 213, Biggie, and Tupac. They paved the way for future artists like Big Moe and deserve recognition for their contributions. The verses highlight Big Moe's journey as an artist, starting from scratch and working hard to provide for his family. He stresses the need to have genuine passion and devotion for the game, rather than just having a catchy melody.
The lyrics also touch upon overcoming obstacles, losing motivation, and dealing with negative comments or haters. Big Moe remains resilient, plucking off the negativity like a feather and cruising through life representing WGK (West Coast Kings). He encourages others to follow their own path, trust themselves, and leave negativity behind. The song's overall message is that the new generation should appreciate and uphold the values of the old school while staying true to themselves and their intentions.
