Church In the Wildwood
Bill & Gloria Gaither Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

On Sunday, when the church bells start ringin'
They're ringin' for you and for me
Let's all kneel down at the altar
And pray that our souls might be free.

CHORUS:
I'll meet you in church Sunday morning
And we'll all kneel down and pray
We'll pray to our Lord up in heaven
To guide us safe home on our way.

It's a place where we all meet on Sunday
To worship our Lord up above
And let all of our sins be forgiven
And meet with our loved ones above.

Repeat chorus

In heaven I hear a voice callin'
From the land where there's one endless day
Let's all be prepared to meet Jesus
The path is narrow to that home far away.

Repeat chorus

The law is important, but not as someones think, the law does not save

Romans 3:20
since by the works of the law no human being will be justified before Him; because through the law is the knowledge of sin.

Romans 3:28
We conclude, then, that man is justified by faith apart from the works of the law.

Galatians 3:2
This I only want to know from you: Did you receive the Spirit by the works of the law, or by hearing with faith?

Isaiah 64:6
Although all of us are like dirt, and all our righteousnesses like filthy rags; and we all fell like a leaf, and our iniquities carried us away like the wind.

Titus 3:5
he saved us, not by works of justice that we had done, but by his mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Spirit,

So what is the law for? To make us aware of our sin. And what are the works for? To prove that our Faith is true and because it is the Will of the LORD

James 2:18
But someone will say: You have faith, and I have works. Show me your faith without your works, and I will show you my faith by my works.

Ephesians 2:10
For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand for us to do.

So those who believe that works and law have weight in Salvation are guilty of damnation unless they see the Light of the Grace of Christ; as for Shabbat

Romans 14:6
He who heeds the day, he heeds to the LORD; and he who ignores the day, to the LORD he does not. He who eats, for the LORD he eats, because he gives thanks to God; and he who does not eat, for the LORD he does not eat, and he gives thanks to God.

So they have no right to condemn those of us who do not practice that, and as for food

Mark 7:19
because he does not go into his heart, but into his belly, and comes out into the latrine? This he said, making all food clean.

1 Timothy 4
But the Spirit clearly says that in the last times some will apostatize from the faith, listening to deceiving spirits and doctrines of demons; 2 for the hypocrisy of liars who, having their consciences seared, 3 will forbid marriage, and will order abstinence from foods that God created so that believers and those who have known the truth may partake of them with thanksgiving.

Jesus already lived a perfect life for us, since he knew we couldn't do it. He will give you grace & strength to do your best for him & for his glory, if you sincerely call out to him to forgive you, cleanse you & give you his spirit- The Holy Spirit.

Romans 3:23 All have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;

Romans 5:8 But God commendeth His love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he sent his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Romans 10:13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.

I am convinced that this song is needed to bring America back to her senses. I am a 76 year old black American woman and we learned this song in early elementary school. White children learned it in their schools, as well. It is the one thing we had in common, and had we more leaders like Dr. Martin Luther King and President John F. Kennedy, we would have overcome racism in this country. Unfortunately, the Communist Party had the hidden agenda of establishing INTERCOM (international communism), so movements were started non stop to de-Christianize, de-humanize, and de-moralize America. Then Hollywood, television, politicians, civil rights workers, and the media, happened, all working together. They can take a bow for causing America's woes. TRUE REPENTANCE and the return to the WORSHIP OF THE PRINCE OF PEACE, JESUS CHRIST HIMSELF, will make America great again.

What a challenge to see the old singing, compared to young youths wasting their voices singing about earthly things. Forget to praise the one who gives his one n only son for us. The creator of all things.
