Beatles
Beatles (white Album/limited Ed.)
The Continuing Story Of Bungalow Bill (lennon/mccartney)
Hey, bungalow bill
What did you kill
Bungalow bill?

He went out tiger hunting with his elephant and gun
In case of accidents he always took his mom
Heβ€²s the all american bullet-headed saxon mother's son.
All the children sing

Hey bungalow bill
What did you kill
Bungalow bill?

Deep in the jungle where the mighty tiger lies
Bill and his elephants were taken by surprise
So captain marvel zapped in right between the eyes
All the children sing

Hey, bungalow bill
What did you kill
Bungalow bill?

The children asked him if to kill was not a sin
Not when he looked so fierce, his mother butted in
If looks could kill it would have been us instead of him
All the children sing

Hey, bungalow bill

What did you kill
Bungalow bill?

Overall Meaning

Bill Hicks's "Elvis" is a tribute to the King of Rock and Roll, but it also contains a message about the way we view celebrity culture. The song is full of references to Elvis and his influence on society, but it also criticizes the way we idolize celebrities and ignore their flaws.

The verse about Bungalow Bill is a perfect example of this message. The children sing a chorus asking what Bungalow Bill killed on his tiger hunt, and Bill's mother defends his actions by saying that he looked so fierce that it would have been the hunters' lives that were in danger if Bill hadn't killed the tiger. This verse is a criticism of celebrity culture, which often encourages people to overlook the flaws and mistakes of their idols and to idolize them instead.

Overall, "Elvis" is a powerful song that uses the figure of Elvis Presley to make a larger point about celebrity culture and the way we view famous people.

I am of the opinion that this is the funniest stand up routine ever created.

I'm 71 years old and I'm in complete agreement. While the basis of the skit was composed, most was ad-libbed. Bill Hicks was the greatest comedy talent of my lifetime. Even more so than George Carlin. And that says an awful lot.
