After You've Gone
Bing Crosby Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

After you've gone and left me crying
After you've gone, there's no denying
You'll feel blue; you're gonna be sad
You've missed the dearest pal that (slickest partner) you ever had

There'll come a time, don't you forget it
(Yeah) there'll come a time when you're gonna regret it
Some day when you get lonely
Your heart will break like mine (and) you'll want me only

After you've gone (split) after you've gone away (flown the coop)

After we paid our dues together
You should have stayed through all that nasty weather
Someday while you're feeling badly
You'll need the only one that loves you so madly

But I'll be gone; yes, I'll be gone to stay
Yeah, after I've gone after I've gone away

I love this song!!! I heard it in radio when I was younger...and never forget it. Great! Thanks.

Yes this a great piece recorded in October 1929 with Bing and definitely Joe Venuti on fiddle and Eddie Lang on guitar.  Glorious!

I want Bing Crosby's voice.  Seriously I think his voice is even better than Sinatra's.  Don't get me wrong; I love Sinatra, but there's just something about the way Bing croons in that baritone voice that makes me want to sing like him :)

Such a cheerful breakup song, I love it 🤣

Michael Watkins

Having just read the other comments it's even better than I thought with Bix Beiderbecke's corn horn.

Does anybody know who the guitarist is on this? Whoever it is sounds great. Is it perhaps Eddie Lang? Is that Joe Venuti on violin?

Gerry Coogan

Yes to both questions. 👍

Joyce Grindle

I've got this record. 78rpm, on Columbia

This is the short version of this song. The intro music before He starts singing is actually a bit longer than this.
