The First Noel
Bing Crosby & The Andrews Sisters Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴
The angel did say
Was to certain poor shepherds
In fields as they lay
In fields where they lay
Keeping their sheep
On a cold winter's night
Noel, Noel, Noel, Noel
Born is the King of Israel
(They looked up)
(And saw a star)
(Shining in the east)
(Beyond them far)
(And to the earth)
(It gave great light)
(And so it continued)
(Both day and night)
Noel, Noel, Noel, Noel
Born is the King of Israel
This by the light
Of that same star
Three wise men came
From the country far
To seek for a King
Was their intent
And to follow the star
Wherever it went
Noel, Noel, Noel, Noel
Born is the King of Israel
Oh Noel
The lyrics of this classic Christmas carol, The First Noel, tells the story of the birth of Jesus Christ as retold in the Bible. The first verse tells of the announcement of the birth of Jesus by an angel to a group of shepherds in the fields as they were watching their sheep. This was a pivotal moment in the gospel story of the birth of the savior. The second verse speaks of the shepherds' journey to see the Christ child when they looked up and saw a star shining brightly in the east.
The chorus of the song, with the repetition of the word "Noel", emphasizes the joy and celebration that surrounds the birth of Jesus Christ. The third verse speaks of the arrival of the magi, or wise men, who came from the East to seek the Messiah. The star they followed guiding them to the baby Jesus in Bethlehem. The lyrics of the song not only retell the story of Christ's birth but also convey the message of hope, joy, and redemption that he brings.

Bing is one of the best singers in history. Unlike singers these days.

Tell Me About It. Singers Like Bing Crosby And Others Like Him Back In The Old Days Sang Like Angels From The Heart. Singers These Days Just Sing Trashy Songs For Money.

I had a cat named Noel. Her birthday fell right on Christmas eve. About five years ago, she passed away in my arms. Since that day, I can't not hear this song without crying for her, and on her birthday I tend to drink more than I normally do to try and dull the emotional pain. She truly was a treasure to me.
