It was hearing this record late one night in 1979, on the radio of a borrowed car (mine had no radio), in Baltimore, broadcast from an AM station in New Orleans, that sparked my interest in -- my obsession with -- Bix. The very next day I bought the Columbia LP of the Bix and his Gang records. Soon after that I found a copy of Bix Man and Legend (one author of which later became a friend of mine) in the discard sale at the library. A year later I was playing cornet. A few minutes changed my entire life.

The finest Bix Gang sessions of them all: October 5 and 25, 1927. Both with Rollini, the hottest sax player around.

As I said before, Bix was the King Midas of jazz. Everything he played was turned into gold.

He lives what more can I say?

I think Rollini could make a fantastic record even better!! The Bass Sax adds so much to it!!
@andypinter1
Excellent! Great track. High quality photographs and Rollini's bsx is most interesting and stands out throughout!
