The lyrics to Björk's song "Himnaför" are in Icelandic, and the song itself has a dreamy and whimsical quality to it. The song is essentially a lullaby, as it addresses a little girl who is playing and having fun. The first verse tells us that the day has passed and night has come, indicating that it's time for the child to get ready for bed. It mentions the girl washing her fingers and asks her what she has to say.
The second verse talks about the gifts given to the girl: a bed and a room with double wings, which suggests a sense of freedom and imagination. The lyrics suggest that in this dreamlike state, the girl can fly into the world of her thoughts and dreams, exploring the vast expanse of space.
The third verse mentions the girl flying to Venus and Mercury, meeting a beautiful lady who brings her gifts. This can be interpreted as the girl's imagination taking her to different places and meeting interesting characters. The following lines talk about the journey to Mars, where there are rivers full of fish, and calculating Jupiter's moon and rhythm. It seems to emphasize the idea of exploration and curiosity.
The fourth verse takes the girl to Saturn, where they dance with the clock chiming, and Uranus, where they shoot the ball with a swing. The lyrics also mention building a home in Neptune's city but being careful with Pluto. These lines further highlight the fantastical journey that the girl's imagination takes her on.
Overall, "Himnaför" paints a picture of a magical and imaginative world, where a little girl's dreams and curiosity are encouraged and celebrated.
